I never liked house parties. They were always too crowded. Too loud. Too.... much. But honestly, it was the only thing keeping me sane right now.
I just caught Juliet in bed with another man and not knowing what else to do, I called up my good friend BooBoo Stewart and he told me about the party.
As soon as we arrived, he left me for someone else. Which lead me to this exact moment. Walking around the party, looking like some lost, antisocial, emo puppy.
I was just about to come to my senses and leave when I saw her.
She had brown skin that somehow shined under the terrible lighting, black box braids in a ponytail, Y/E/C eyes and a gorgeous body. She wore a short, black form fitting dress and matching stilettos.
Instead of dancing, talking and drinking like everybody else she was chilling by the wall. She seemed like such an outsider, like me.
I walked up to where she was and stood next to her.
"Hi," I said. "I'm Andy."
When I turned to look at her I saw that she was gone and headed towards the kitchen. I followed after her.
"Hey, I don't know if you heard me back there but my name is Andy," I held out my for her to shake but she just stared at it.
I pulled it back and stuck it in my pocket.
"So, what are you doing in a place like—"
"I'mma stop you right there," she interrupted me. "I don't really know you at all, so I'm just gonna try and guess what's happening here."
She cleared her throat.
"You were feeling totally bummed out because you're significant other either cheated on or dumped yo' ass. So you then proceeded to follow your friend to this party so you distract yourself from the pain. But sadly, your friend left you and you felt like the only loner at this until you saw me. I was against the wall, in a dark corner and you thought I was just like you," she concluded."Did I leave anything out?"
I shook my head, too shocked to speak.
"Good."
And with that she walked away.
Eventually I snapped out of it and I followed her. When I found her I touched her shoulder. She turned around and glared at me.
"You again? Listen—"
"No, you listen," I interrupted her. "You don't like me and I get that. You don't have to."
She crossed her arms but her glare softened a bit.
"Look, we don't have to talk, we don't have to dance, we don't have to smile, we don't have to make friends. I just really don't want to be alone tonight and I'm sure you don't want to be either. Is there any way we can not be alone together?"
She gave it some thought at first but finally nodded. I smiled at her.
"Cool."
