Jakku wasn't a beautiful place. Not in the least. But it was special. Special because of those who inhabited it. Special because of its history. But above all else, special because of her.

She was a rose in a garden of thorns. A beam of lights in an otherwise dark world. A symbol of absolute beauty.

Her curly black hair was like a soft cloud, her Y/E/C eyes had a certain shine to them that nothing or no one else did and her brown skin came second to none.

Everybody else hated her. They called her a thief, menace, evil but not Poe. He saw her as so much more.

Jakku was filled to the brim with misfits, thieves, scavengers and criminals but she was considered the worst of them all. Anyone seen near or with her was a target so Poe made sure that when they were together, they were well hidden. Like right now.

Y/N and Poe were laying together in bed in Y/N's secret hideout. Poe had her in his arms while she drew imaginary circle into his chest.

The two hadn't said anything in a while. They were still thinking about their situation.

"Don't do it," Y/N finally said.

"Don't do what?" Poe asked.

She removed herself from his arms and pulled her knees to her chest.

"Don't go back to Leia, don't lead a resistance starfighter raid, don't destroy a First Order Deadnought. Don't do anything," she begged. "Just stay with me, please."

Then she started crying. If a stranger were to see her in this state right now they would never guess that this is the Y/N Y/L/N that everyone feared and hated, they would just see a regular woman who was scared of losing the love of her life.

Poe sat up too and took her bag into his arms.

"I have to," he told her. "I need to fight for a new future, a better future."

Y/N then turned to him with a sad smile on her face.

"Of all the rogue space pilots in the galaxy, why did I have to find the one I couldn't help but fall helplessly in love with?" she asked.

Poe shrugged with a smirk.

"I guess you're just lucky."

Y/N started chuckling then she wiped away her tears.

"Okay then, go but I won't be here when you come back. It's too dangerous for me to stay much longer," she said.

Poe nodded before kissing the top of Y/N's head and holding her closer than he ever has before, not knowing this was the last time.
