Luk 10:41-42 'And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
A question comes to mind after i have read this verse... Later i will ask you that question but before that in this verse Jesus presented a 2 kinds of christian that is also present in today's generation. Namely in the representation of Martha & Mary. Both are christians. Martha in the earlier verse called Jesus - Lord (verse 40), and so she is a christian and next Mary, someone who has listened to the Word of God as mentioned in the earlier verse 39.
Martha, as mentioned during Jesus visitation, was busy preparing and serving the people while Jesus was speaking the Word of God. She was busy with the worldly things at that momemt. While Mary, was so focus on Jesus...on the Word of God. Though what Martha was doing isn't bad if we look at it in the worldly perspective, i mean what is wrong in preparing food for the guest and for Jesus, right? But hear me out, if you were present in a place where Jesus is talking, would you choose to do other things or would you with all your heart listen to the Word of God Himself, Jesus Christ. Its not everyday you get to hear Jesus speak and it would be a waste not to listen to Him, right?!
There are alot of people in this world claiming to be christians yet their actions are far from being one.
My questions is, in this verse who are you? Are you more of Martha or more of Mary? As a christian. That is my question.
Mary was sincere in listening to the Word of God and she counted everything else vain. And so Jesus said in verse 42, Mary chose the good part that would never fade, the Word of God. And what Mary did was pleasing in the sight of God. May we please God in everything we do, pleasing Him being our highest priority, the Word of God and all else is vain, perishable.
Seek to have time with God and in everything we do here on earth give our Lord and Savior the glory and honor He deserve.
Again, Who are you more? Martha? Or Mary? Reflect!
To God be the glory!
