"And I say unto you, Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it will be open unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him knocketh it shall be opened." -Luke 11: 9-10

What i get in this verse is assurance. God is informing us that He will answer...that He will respond and its just a matter of what we do, what we ask/seek... In all the things that we need in this life, though it is given that God knows what we need and want before we even say anything but He expect us to ask, to seek and to knock... Why do you think He is doing this? In all of that He wants to see our faith. He won't expect us to ask or seek or knock to Him if He knows we don't have the faith He wants from us. With that being said, we on the other hand should not expect that God will answer our prayers because in the first place we didn't believe. To ask God, to seek God and to go and do things for God requires good deal of faith. Believing is essential without it God will not respond to us.

But i believe the important aspect in this verse that is not conveyed is the patience and the endurance of our faith we need to possess as we wait on the Lord for all the things we asked of Him.

As God has given us an assurance, being a true followers of Christ we should hold on to His promise no matter what struggles we will face today and in the days to come. And be open minded that whatever we ask if we receive it or if not, whatever the case is...our faith is unshakable. In the same way that those great men of God in the Scripture mentioned in Hebrews 11.
That they died with faith not receiving the promise rather, looking at the promise a far off- the promise of spending your eternity with God Almighty.

To God be the glory!
