"For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep..." -Acts 13:36 ESVDavid served the purpose of God in his generation.
How about you? Have you done what God's purpose for you? No, wrong question... rather, Have you started pursuing after God's purpose for your life? Or were you busy pursuing on your own ambitions and desires? Most Christians assumes that what we like, as long as its not bad or it doesn't hurt anyone, is something what God wants too for us... but its not! Man's ways are all death leading ways... because we are imperfect that is why we are so in need of a God but oftentimes we feel like we don't. We need God's permission in everything mainly because we don't own anything not even ourselves. He is our Creator and the Giver of life.
Your life's purpose is link with God because He is our Creator and so only Him knows about our purpose in life.
We are created by Him and for Him we were created (Colossians 1:16)... and to add, we are created for God's pleasure (Revelation 4:11).I recommend you read the book by Rick Warren, the Purpose Driven Life. To know more about our 5 purpose in life...
I assume we all know what our purpose is, so... What have you done so far? Or what hinders you to go after what God has called you to do?Reflect on it... on your faith. Fix the things that needs to be fixed. Pray to God for enlightment and favor.
God has commanded us to live a life glorifying Him, do it with all your heart and by fulfilling the life's purpose He has given you.
No wonder why David was called 'a man after God's heart.' He has done what He was called to do and did God's purpose for his life.
How about you? You have a lifetime to do so... God will allow those whom He called to fall asleep that is to die physically, not until they have served Him... but He can also put an end to those rebellious and disobendient people, to those who won't repent. You pick? Die serving the Lord and end up living with the Lord for eternity in heaven or Live serving yourself and end up dying by yourself for eternity in hell, where the pain never ends.
It is never too late to serve God. It is not about being old, or young... If you are still breathing, you are still in the game, winning souls for Christ... it is never too late to go after what God has called you to do, go after your God given purpose... pursue God and leave a mark in your generation for Jesus.
The only way we can leave a mark in this life is living the purpose God has given us.
To God be the glory!
