"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" -Philippians 1:6

Our character building of becoming Christ-like is a lifetime process and will be finish until Jesus 2nd coming.

What we will do here on earth is a process of becoming like Jesus, as a Christian... to follow the Spirit of God as we walk in this world.

Why is it a lifetime process? Why not change automatically?
Though God is perfect but the sad news is that we are not perfect. We are flawed... we don't easily get things, as Pastor Rick Warren would say, we are slow learner.
God made it a lifetime process and made the change possible only thru Jesus Christ and by faith.

It is actually for our advantage what God has done, He is making sure to save us all.
And so, as we live today and every decision we make, we have to base our decisions and our acts in the way of Jesus, How He would respond for us to produce good works.
We are able to do good works because of God's grace in our lives. Those acts are the manifestations that we are save that Jesus is in our lives. And so Christians live their lives in amending their inner being to be Christ-like and doing so takes a lifetime process, we hope to be finish in Christ coming. Jesus would do the final touch.
With that being said, don't lose hope and don't give up on yourself, you still have today to make things right with God. It is never too late. All you need to do is confess to God all your sins and He is faithful and just to forgive us. Repent and live.
