"...The hand of our God is for good on all who seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all who forsake him." So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty." -Ezra 8:22-23Before everything else we must first know that there was a previous problem that opted them to pray to God, during Ezra's time, the priest.
They had a humble request to God and take note of what they did for God to hear their plea towards Him, they fasted and they sought the Lord and guess what God did, 'he listened to their entreaty...' that is big news, God didn't just hear, he listens... there is a huge difference with the word hear and listen, we often hear words or a conversation but end up not understanding them or not taking it in, just how i hear the noise outside of the house as i write things down, while listening means the full attention is on you, the speaker. Listening is hearing with understanding.
And so if we want God attention to our cry... fast and get on your knees that is to pray and read his Word. Those are humble acts that glorifies God. God is satisfied when He is glorified, on the other hand, we will be glorified with Him if we are satisfied in Him.
Glorifying God and our satisfaction are actually one. We are most satisfied when we glorify God. Notice that no matter what we do here on earth, or whatever we possess we are still not satisfied, we want more... its because no earthly things can satisfy a creature made for heavenly things. I mean, how can a temporal thing satisfy a being designed for eternity... only an eternal thing can satisfy an eternal being, we are made to be citizens of heaven not earth... only God can fill us up. Only Him can satisfy us and so seek Him with all your heart.
I know we are still on earth... and sense God can only satisfy us, then only Him can help us with every struggles we face... we just need to run to Him for answer and deliverance. And for us to get His attention is too humble ourselves, seek Him.
To God be the glory!
