"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?" -Luke 11:13

Our God is perfect. He can't be evil. He is good and all the time, He is good. Without a doubt. Man, on the other hand is an imperfect being... Prone to failures and mistakes. Yet despite that fact we know what good things are and would perform it to those we thing deserves it from us. I just stated there the obvious difference between man & God.

When we do good works we have things to consider or have a set of conditions or reason... because a person does good things to us we tend to do the same to them but if they have harmed us, we do revenge. Treating others base on how they treat us, that's how the world has taught us... don't you think? But the good news is that God isn't like man. As the Scripture states God,

"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." - Matthew 5:45

Clearly He watches over us. He looks after us because He loves us all. Knowing all that don't you think He can give us good gifts? He can! Because nothing is impossible for Him. The verse tells us that 2 important things:

1. God will surely provide if and only if we ask Him.

2. This is about the good gifts. Our view of such are worldly, to be honest, money comes to mind, fame, and all physical things... Do you agree? We are so attached on the things that will eventually fade. Unreasonable things. God's view of good gifts are those fruits of the Holy Spirit,

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." -Galatians 5:22-23

Things that fades not! And actually things that we truly need but we don't know we do. But hey, He knows what is best for us...

What we really need in this life is the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raise Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11). Having the Holy Spirit means having power over anything in this world that pertains to life, eternal life and surely in every situation especially the struggles we have victory over it, knowing the same Spirit that raise Jesus lives in us, He will raise us up as well in every thing in and thru Christ Jesus, our Lord.

To God be the glory!
