September 4

"A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." -Luke 19:2-5

We know as Christians that the Word is Jesus Himself (Read John 1:1,14) and He is the Truth (John 14:6). And that if we search Him, if we truly seek Him in the same way Zacchaeus did He will dwell in us for we are a living house, a temple of God.

You see to get to Jesus, to capture His attention the first thing we need is we have to believe in the Word. If Zacchaeus didn't believe in Jesus he wouldn't have look for Him and he should've not waited on that particular spot on that tree where he knew Jesus would pass, the same spot Jesus saw him.

Second point is that His perseverance has given him favour, for Jesus to look upon him, a sinner. Zacchaeus' height and with all the crowd present... wherever Jesus was multitude of people always follow Him so imagine that like how He fed thousands of people, it didn't stop Him for seeking Jesus. Instead Zacchaeus ran and climbed a tree, Just for Him to have a clear look on Jesus. He intend to look not just a part of Jesus, but He wants to see Jesus wholly. Then He saw Jesus fully in the view and in the process Jesus also was his faith... in return God rewarded Him when Jesus said, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." Jesus just doesn't know him, He also wants to abide in him. For every Christians, that is our desire... for God to know us and to be with Him for eternity because no one else loves us in the same way God did... He made His confession on the cross with our sins on Him.
We often ask God about His presence in our lives, but one thing we should ask, are we seeking Him? He should be our priority and surely He will bless us. (Read Matthew 6:33)

We are to search/seek the Word of God in the same way Zacchaeus did, by not just reading it but importantly to study and meditate on it for us to fully understand God's Word for Him to be present always in our lives.

To God be the glory!
