Dt. 8:2 "And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not."
By reading that verse, i sense that you know what this is about... God is searching our hearts.
Its hard to fanthom what it is in our hearts... What we feel, we desire, and what we hope for. Man oftentimes say that when you love you just don't say it, you do it...because i believe love is only made perfect with works and without it, that love (or kind of love) is dead.
I believe that is also what God is searching in that verse, if we truly do love Him.
And it is only during the darkest days of our lives that we get to see what is real, the real you or the real people that loves you... For 40 years the Israelites were lead in the wilderness... why? Because God was searching their hearts...that despite the struggles in life... That they would come to love Him. And by loving God, that is keeping His commandments. You cannot say that you love God and neglect His commandments. That's ridiculous.
How many years have you been in the wilderness? How many years have you been struggling/hopeless/sick/in the darkness? 2 years? 5 years? 10 years? The Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years because of their own foolishness. Though it happened that way God's love and mercy for them didn't cease.
And know also that in all the struggles we face its for our own good, God is only teaching us and guiding us in the right path and that way is Jesus Christ. Claim His Word that everything will work out for the good for those who love God.
How can we possible get out of it? You ask. Simple! Love God with all your heart and soul, that is to keep His commandments. You need a faith that works, that will convince God that You have placed His Word in your heart by living in the Word of God.
It's okay to be lost in this world after all this is not our final destination, heaven is. So no matter how lost you may be, just strive to move forward...according to God 's will and command for you because at the end, all is well.
To God be the glory!
