"And Jesus said unto him, why callest thou me good? None is good, save one, that is, God." -Luke 18:19

It is comforting to know that God is good. It gives us hope, that the end of His actions is always for our own welfare... and not to harm us because He is good, that's His nature... that's just who He is.
But the truth is that though at some point it is good to know but at the same time it is a scary thing to know as well... that the given verse has given us 2 points that leads to 2 different paths.
I have watched a video of a Pastor in youtube, and His view about God is good has somehow influenced me, because i believe in it as well,
he shared his experience speaking in a university student and telling them the most terrifying truth written in the Scripture, the truth that... God is good.
Then one student said somehing that goes with the line, 'Isn't that a good thing?' The Pastor replied why it was terrifying because we aren't good.
The verse strongly implies that 'We are not good.'
'None is good, save one- God.'
Knowing that fact, God can't be together with unholy, unrighteous people. Our sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2). And there's nothing we can do to bridge that gap.
If we are separated from God, we are far from the goodness that only Him can provide... we are in the different direction of our God.
'He is the light of this world then we are in darkness.'
'Life comes from Him then we are dead.' That's just to mention a few...
Indeed it is a scary thing to know but... like i said, knowing that He is good, is also a comforting thing- because He intends to save us all from dying for the wages of sin is death... He intends to save us by His abundant grace thru faith in His Son, Jesus- to the one who died for us so that we can be reconciled with God by cleansing our sins thru His precious blood (1 Peter 3:18).
The only way for us to experience God's goodness and blessing is when we believe in the one He sent for us to be saved. The only way, He laid down for us to be saved and that way is Jesus Christ- He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
To God be the glory!
