"For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." -Matthew 6:14-15

Forgiveness

This is not about letting go of others mistakes rather letting go of your flesh. The act itself is not the issue here but the person forgiving.

Christian are ought to forgive other people, because God has forgiven our sins... we are to do the same. To what extend, forgive even the unforgivable. Sin leads to death (Romans 6:23), the reason people go to hell is because of the unforgiven sin in man but to the Christians, to those in Christ Jesus sins are already forgiven... All we have to do is confess to God all our sin and asks for forgiveness unto our King.

And forgiveness is a result of a person who is merciful and gracious, and there characteristic has something to do of what is in the heart... No one is good except God. Forgiveness must spring from the heart, it must flow from the heart in order for an act be forgiving, from the character of a person, from his heart because if not its all just a show... so the person may be glorified and that is not what we are meant to do, for we are meant to glorify only one, that is God. For us to forgive we need a conversion not in our ways but in our hearts, the heart is the core for that is where a person can be defiled. Once the heart is converted the actions and ways of a man will follow.

Know that only God knows if we have truly have forgiven others for He sees what is in the heart. Forgive and you shall be forgiven. If you forgive not then don't expect God to forgive you. And if God won't forgive you, your sins still dwells in you and do expect the worst, which is hell. But if you repent and ask God for forgiveness, He will forgive you for sure if you ask Him with all of your heart and He expects you to do the same for those who inflicted harm against you in any way.

To God be the glory!
