"And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God: For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and images: and the kingdom is quiet before Him. And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord had given him rest." -2 Chronicles 14:2-6

What does that Word of God mean to you? What is God trying to say to you as you read His Word?
I always ask myself that questions. As i answer it, the answer being place in my heart & mind by God the Holy Spirit, i know and believe it is directed to me and God wants me to live out the answer He has provided me in this world.

The Scripture talks about, in a way, peace & rest. To be honest, I've been tired lately...physically speaking and i don't know am i so weak and that troubles me...

But here comes God's Word talking about peace and rest, and in how He has given king Asa those 2 things i so desire right now...
The verse i shared starts with "And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God..." (verse 2)
You might ask how? How was he good and right in the eyes of God? Verse 3 has an answer i quote, " For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves..." Let me continue with verse 5
" Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and images..."
And what did God gave him in exchange for what he did... In exchange of his faith? Because clearly what Asa did was the fruit of his faith.
God gave him peace. PEACE.
"...and the kingdom was quiet before him." (verse 5)

If we apply this with our life... Peace can only be with us if and... only if we have cut down/turn down/ broken down the idols, high places, images in our lives... This are things that we think are more important than God, and we can either do this intentional or unconsciously... And so we must be careful. This doesn't only apply to the graven images man created but also it can be a person, a job, a thing...it can be anything that will eventually get our time & effort... And it will make us farther with our Creator. If we are far from God, we are far from the peace that we so desire that only God can provide.
Before we are at war with God, because of our sin... Though we have started this battle that we can never win, God has given us a peace offering and that offering is Jesus Christ, His Son. If we accept Him then God the Father will also accept us and if you deny Him then He will also deny us. That is how peace was brought to mankind, thru Jesus Christ.

So, again... How can we receive peace and rest?
1. By cutting down/ breaking down the idols and images or high places in our lives
2. Has to do with the Word of God. Building our life in God's Word...rooted and grounded in the Word of God.
"And command Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers and to do the law and commandment." (verse 4)
To continue...verse 6 mentioned about king Asa building fences in Judah. I believe thru the Word of God we can create walls that will separate us from our enemies and it will make hard for them to get to us...spiritually speaking.
If you relate it to the physical world, just like how king Asa built a fenced in the cities of Judah and with that, "for the Land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the Lord has given him rest." (verse 6)

'The Lord has given him rest...' thru God's Word as our sword mentioned in Hebrews, we are not only building our offense but our defense as well, all in God's Word as mentioned in Ephesians our faith as our shield. And faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

When there is peace, there will be rest and when there's rest means peace is there.

True peace and rest are only possible if you have read, believed and lived out the Word of God.

To God be the glory!
