"This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you." -John 15:12Loving others in the same way God has loved us!
It may easily be said but the implementation of such will be hard. Why? Well, because God loved us that He willingly died on the cross to show us that amazing love of His towards us. He died for us because He loved us.
Would you die for anyone? If it is a family member or anyone, whom you love dearly... It might be yes, right?
But take note on the verse, 'love one another'... And that another could be anybody, and everybody at the same time. God also commanded us to love our neighbors... Did He not?
Could you possible die for someone you barely know? Or to someone you don't know? Would you, as an expression of love in the same Jesus died for us- to save us? Would you be welling to die for someone to save them from danger, as Christ did?
If you think that would be a challenge, what about if i ask you... Would you die for your enemies? To the one who has inflicted harm/pain against you. If You saw him/her in the verge of death and the only to save that enemy of yours is if you switch place with him/her and die in her stead... Would you die for him/her to save her in exchange of you life?
Now that is hard! Don't you think?
But you see, God has commanded us to love everyone even your enemies... And also those people that aren't so lovable, those annoying neighbors, those whom you can't seem to get along with... Would you love them in the same way Jesus has loved us?
"God demonstated His love towards us that while we were sinners Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8
As a christian we are responsible to uphold God's image and be His reflection and a light in this world, as He is the.light of this world. Being a christian is being like Jesus... In His ways, in words and deeds.
God the father gave His only begotten Son, Jesus and Jesus died to save you while you were still a sinner, a filthy sinner... Being who you were then didn't made Him love you any less, in fact He loves you with an unfailing, unconditional, unmeasurable and unchanging love. Who you were before you knew Him, didn't change His mind about you. He loved you more and confessed His love on the cross for the world to see.
Loving Him back is a great way to thank Him, by doing His command.
"If you love me, keep my command..." -John 14:15Don't you think that is reasonable?
If you say now that you love them in the same way God loves us then, forgiving those who wronged you would be easy, helping and providing for the poor would be easy, thoughts of evil against other people would not be entertain, doing good and being kind to others would be so easy... And be reminded, no matter how they treat you good or bad, you will not be shaken and still love them despite their evil action towards you. Because at the end of the day it's not about them, it's about who you are, and you are a child of God... So carry your Father's name well and do what He ask you to do with all of your heart & strength.
Do you think we can do that? I believe we can by God grace... It is not by our own but by God's Spirit upon us. All we need to do is to get on our knees and pray, surely God will give us the strength to do so.
To be honest we can't love, and i mean really love others/everyone but the Jesus in us can definitely love anyone & everyone (A thought from the movie Amazing Love).
To God be the glory!
