"I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments." -Psalm 119:60 KJV
When i work, or when my boss has commanded me to do some work, i always work on it right away upon hearing his demands/requests and i dare not to delay... for i don't want to face consquences.
We are like that with our earthly master... but I'm afraid we are not like that with God.
Christian life, has a lot of picture, one of which is like a life of a servant... we are the servant and ofcourse God is our Master, heavenly Master. Many of us hasn't realize it yet... for many of us hasn't read the Bible. That explains it. If you are doubting my statement, read the Bible. Many are so into serving their earthly master, is that wrong? No and Yes.
No. If in doing so we are serving the Lord. We are told by the Scripture of such in Colossians 3:22-23.
Yes. If we have serve them more than we should have served God. Prefering work and our earthly master is a sin, God should be our priority. Otherwise, that would mean idolatry. You might ask, what is God's command? How can i do it if i didn't know what is was?
Have you heard of a saying, 'Ignorance of the law excuses no one'?
We have no excuse the Bible is available to everyone, who wills to read it and God's command is in His Word. There's no such person who calls himself Christian yet he doesn't know about God's Word, necause it will only mean, he's no Christian. We need to check ourselves, if we are indeed Christians, believers, followers of Christ. Jesus is the Word (John 1:14).
And Christians ought to love God because if he doesn't he isn't one. Loving God is keeping His commandments (John 14:15). You can only love God when you abide in Him, Jesus is the Word remember.
The psalmist made haste and did not delay in keeping God's command, how about you?Do you love God?
And if you do,
Do you keep His commandments?Keeping God's commandment needs courage (Joshua 23:6).
And making haste and not delaying in doing it requires great amount of faith. You can increase faith in reading, studying and meditating in the Wors of God... faith comes from hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
Note that we always go back to Him, to the one who created us. Have faith in Him. And rely on His sufficient grace that will lead you to obey His command. To God be the glory!
