"Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people." -1 Chronicles 16:8
We ought to give thanks unto our God.
...to rely on Him.
...to confess His wondrous works in our lives.
This is not something to be force on us. No one can coerce you on doing such because these are works of faith.
First. Without faith it is impossible to give thanks to God especially in all circumstances which is something we are commanded to do...
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." -1 Thessalonians 5:18
...in everything and in every circumstances, in good times & in bad.
Second. Without faith it is impossible to call upon God's name...
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is..." -Hebrews 11:6
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." -Acts 16:31
To rely on God is a sign of humility, that we can't go on without Him each & everyday of our lives because clearly everyday we need His help, we need air that comes from His breath, we need God to wake us up, we need Him for strength, we need Him for the light, we need Him. We can't go on without Him. Period.
Third. Without faith it is impossible to proclaim the Gospel to the people. To be able to preach with endurance requires faith. To confess about God in one's life is a manifestation of what God is doing in your life. Two ways we can manifest God in our lives, in words & in deeds.
'...make known his deeds among the people.' Is not just about what you say but importantly in what you do... They say action speak louder than words, they're not wrong with that thought, i might say. May our actions speak of the faith we have in Christ Jesus.
And in everything we do, all for the glory of God. Like i said earlier, these are works of faith... without faith it is hard, rather quite impossible. We need faith, and we get faith by hearing the Word of God. Start of with the Bible. Hear God speak thru the Scripture and listen very carefully. Have faith.
To God be the glory!
