You've been feeling under the weather for the past couple of days. Your head ached, your throat was scratchy, and your body felt heavy with fatigue. As you lay in bed, contemplating how to make yourself feel better, you heard a knock on your bedroom door.
You assumed it was your mom so with a groggy voice, you called out, "Come in."
To your surprise, Sadie, Your beloved girlfriend, walked into the room with a concerned expression on her face. "Hey, babe."
"What are you doing here?" You asked her as you sat up.
Sadie came over to your side and sat on the edge of the bed. "I'm here to take care of you."
You shook your head. "I don't wanna get you sick."
"I don't care about getting sick. I just wanna make sure you're feeling okay." She said.
"I feel fine." You told her.
Sadie gently put her hand on your forehead but then quickly moved it away once she felt the temperature. "You're burning up, love. Please, let me take care of you."
You sighed. "Fine."
Sadie smiled before she stood up. "First things first, we need to bring down that fever." Sadie said, heading to the bathroom.
You watched as she returned with a damp washcloth and placed it on your forehead. The coolness provided instant relief and you let out a content sigh.
"Feel better?" Sadie asked with a slight smile.
"Mhm." You nodded.
Sadie smiled, her eyes filled with tenderness. "Glad to hear it. Now, how about some warm tea to soothe your throat?"
As Sadie prepared a cup of herbal tea, you marveled at her nurturing nature. "You really know how to take care of me, don't you?"
She handed you the cup and settled beside you on the bed. "It's because I love you."
You sipped the tea, feeling the warmth spread through your body. "I love you too, Sadie."
Sadie's smile was infectious. "I'll always be here for you. Especially when you need me the most."
Throughout the day, Sadie remained by your side, engaging you in light hearted conversations to distract you from your discomfort. She shared stories from the set of O'dessa, making you laugh and forget about your illness.
"You have such an incredible way of brightening my day, even when I'm feeling terrible." You confessed.
Sadie squeezed your hand. "That's because you brighten my life every single day. I just want to return the favor."
As the day wore on, Sadie brought you a tray of nourishing soup and crackers. She sat beside you, feeding you spoonfuls of soup with a playful smile on her face. You couldn't help but chuckle, feeling grateful for her lightheartedness.
"You have a way of making chicken soup feel like the most amazing meal." You remarked, your eyes locked with hers.
Sadie blushed but maintained her playful demeanor. "It's just from a can."
You let out a little laugh.
As the evening approached, Sadie suggested watching your favorite tv show together. You snuggled up next to her, her arm draped around your shoulders, providing both physical and emotional warmth.
"You make being sick feel less lonely, Sadie." You admitted, resting your head on her shoulder.
She pressed a soft kiss to your temple. "You're never alone, babe. I'll always be here for you."
"In sickness and in health, am I right?" You joked, looking up at her.
Sadie nodded with a smile. "In sickness and in health."
As the night grew darker, Sadie helped you settle into bed, ensuring you were comfortable. She fetched a book from the shelf and climbed into bed next to you.
"Let me read you a bedtime story." Sadie said with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
"Don't you think I'm a little too old for that?" You playfully furrowed your eyebrows.
"You can never be too old for a bedtime story." Sadie told you.
You chuckled, feeling your spirits lift despite the lingering illness. "Whatever floats your boat, darling."
As Sadie read aloud, her voice soothing and melodic, you couldn't help but feel grateful for her presence in your life. Her tender care, unwavering love, and the warmth of her embrace were the best medicine you could ask for.
As Sadie finished up the book, she put it back on the shelf and laid down next to you. You cuddled up into her side, lifting your leg over her waist and burying your head in her neck.
"Thank you, Sadie. For everything." You mumbled.
Sadie smiled, her eyes gleaming with affection. "Anytime, my love. You're worth it all and so much more."
