Devotions; Defeating the Destroyer

Day 26

Sometimes it's easy to follow God and know you are doing exactly what you should be. However most of the time of you're anything like me you'll go through slumps where God's words don't make sense to you or you don't remember why you believe and follow Him. Those are the worst places to be because you loose your purpose, you feel lost in the middle of a storm and you don't know why you're fighting or where your headed. Maybe you know you should look to God but can't find the love or faith in your heart to do so. Maybe you don't know where to go at all and you would do anything to find an answer. Maybe you have no idea what I'm talking about now but years later you'll look back and remember some girl talking about it a long time ago.

Regardless of when it hits you it will hit hard and getting back to where you were with God and your soul won't be easy. Maybe not possible but that's not always bad, this low can send you into amazing places you never thought you would go with God and with yourself but you can't give up. Remember in that dark time God is with you and remember all the reasons you believe in Him. It could be that you saw His love through a family member and that brought you to God, or comfort in the darkness. It could be that historically Jesus was a real person and was executed for claiming to be God and all His disciples, except one who was tortured, died painfully for Him so they must've know how real and powerful He was. It could be someone else's testimony or sermon that shows you God's light. There a many other reasons to believe in a God who sent His Son to teach of God's laws and love to people who turned away from God in the first place and would eventually kill and torture an the innocent Son and Lord.
