When you pray because you have to it starts bringing you joy. Most people pray with a checklist; thank God for things, help with this, sorry for that. That's not really how God wants us to pray. Jesus shows us how to pray and He starts with, our Father who art in Heaven. A better translation of that is really Daddy, a name with more love and personalization. We should pray that way, personal and vulnerable. Our prayers mean a lot less when we're saying rehearsed words checking things we say off a list until we are done with our required praying time. If you are going to pray that way you might as well not pray at all, the best prayers are the one we say on the spot. They're the ones we don't over think and the ones that come from our hearts. Those prayers are the ones that truly being us closer to God, when we get into a habit of saying the same thing then the words become meaningless. It's fine to have the same time and place to pray every day but let your prayers be real and not repeated words.
