One of my favorite Bible stories is the one with the woman caught cheating in John. Legal officials drag her to Jesus and ask Him what to do with her when the law says kill her. Jesus says, "Whoever hasn't sinned through the first stone." When all of her accusers leave He says, "Go your way and sin no more," then He says, "I am the light of the world." There are so many great parts of this story to talk about but today I'll focus on His mercy. When people think of Jesus forgiving us they think of the cross but even before that He was forgiving to us. He eats with sinners which shows He loves us all, even when we fail. I love how Jesus says "go your way and sin no more," to me it shows us how God forgives. He doesn't hold things against us but He does expect us to learn from our mistakes. And He should without the learning we will just do bad things over and over again and then ask for forgiveness and that's not what God wants. So yes your actions have consequences and yes God expects you to do better after you sin because He cares about us and He wants us to live better lives than living in sin.
