Devotions; Defeating the Destroyer

Day 17

God is a good father. That means He doesn't make mistakes like our biological fathers but He loves us with the same intensity that a good father does. Also like a perfect father He doesn't make rules just because He can. Every rule He makes is for our good. Take the two rules Jesus said was most important love God and love others as yourself. I don't know about you but to me those don't sound like horrible malicious rules set by someone who makes rules because they feel like it. So one would assume it is in our best interest to follow His rules that He made for us. You can't follow what rules you don't know and that is one of the biggest reasons you need to read your bible. However I'll save reading  the bible for a different time and today I'll just say read it, it's pretty important. Along with reading His word you also need to talk with God. Imagine if you didn't talk with your best friend until you needed something, how well would that relationship be working? That's how many of us talk to God and I'll get like that sometimes forgetting that's it says pray always not pray only when you need something. When you pray listen too and see what God is trying to tell you that you are ignoring.
