We sat in the car in silence. The only other sound was the radio playing quietly in the background. The tension and awkwardness was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I thought of things to say to him. But what do you say to someone you don't love anymore?

"How was your day?" he asked me quietly.

"It was fine," I answered just as quietly. "I got an A on my test, the lead role in the school play and Jughead's doing okay too, incase you were wondering."

His face lit up at the mention of my foster brother and his best friend.

"What are we gonna tell him?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" he said cluelessly.

"You know exactly what I mean Archie," I said. "He was so happy about us getting together, about us being in love. But now..." I couldn't bring myself to finish the sentence.

"But now what? Go on, finish the sentence," he told me.

"But now we don't love each other anymore Archie!" I exclaimed. "Why are we doing this? Why are we wasting our time on something that is clearly failing."

"You don't love me anymore?" he asked, his voice cracking a bit.

"No, I don't! I really don't. But it's fine because you don't love me anymore!" I said. "And don't bother trying to argue with me because you know it's true."

He pulled up in front of Jughead and I's trailer. I tried to leave but he locked all the doors.

"What the hell Archie?" I asked him.

"I do love you," he mumbled, still looking in front of him.

"Oh yeah? Can you honestly look me in the eyes and tell me you love me?" he remained silent.

"Yeah, I thought so," I said. "Look Archie, you can carry on living in your little fantasy, where we're still together but I won't. At least now you can go out with Veronica. You two would make a really cute couple. You can do what you want and I'll do what I want but I won't keep on saying those three empty words."

I opened the car door and walked out. I slammed the door shut before storming up to the front door. I looked back to the car and saw Archie sitting still in the car, looking ahead of him. I let out a sigh before walking into the trailer.
