Who say Destiny doesn't exist? Who says fate doesn't exist? In a world where those destined to eat Devil Fruits can sense them since birth these two ideas are more prominent then ever. Now the only question is, who will find One Piece?
The idea is that since birth, one who will eat a devil fruit can sense their particular Devil Fruit from birth, as well as knowing the name of their fruit.(So Luffy can sense the Gomu Gomu No Mi, and Ace and Sabo can sense the Mera Mera No Mi.)
The Devils in the fruits are sentient through the connection to thier "Destined One" up until they eat it, calling to them. "Come, Destined One; I am here" "I am near, Destined One" "Eat me, Destined One" You can do some pretty cool things with this. Mabye when a devil fruit "Awakens" the sign is that the Devil regains their sentience and can speak to their "Destined One"?
If someone eats a Devil Fruit and is not destined to weild it, the fruit will taste terrible to them (Like how it does in cannon) and force a reincarnation into a diffrent fruit. If they are destined, it will taste heavenly and they will gain its powers.
If someone else who was Destined ate the fruit you are also destined to weild before you, you will share a connection with the person till they die and then you can hear the fruit, and if the person is strong enough; even hear their thoughts from time to time! (So Sabo and Ace can hear each other's thoughts eventually)
Those with the Yami Yami no Mi can force a fruit apon the "Undestined" by killing the fruit's previous host, storing the Devil's soul in the darkness and "storing" the devil in someone else. However, you must have "Awakened" the Yami Yami no Mi to do it.
