When Izuku went to the public library, he wasn't expecting to find hope. In fact he simply stumbled upon it while looking for a history book. Meta Liberation War. It was old, tatterd and covered with so much dust it fell off in layers. He wasn't concerned with it's looks though. No, it was it's contents that he was so fascinated with. It spoke of the war with Destro, about Destro's mother, the strict laws placed in fear of Metas, and Destro's ideals. It spoke of a hypothetical world where those with Quirks and those who were Quirkless could live in peace and harmony. Of a world he wanted to live in, but wouldn't be able to because of the course of history. In the end, after reading it, he decided to buy the book on a whim while he rented the history book he was looking for.
Two years passed, and after the encounter with All Might, he felt broken. All his hopes and dreams had been torn shreds, and he had nothing left. But then he happened to lay eyes on a book he had forgotten about with all the abuse from Kacchan and the rest if his peers. The book on the Meta Liberation War. With the discourse in his mind, he had yet to realize he dropped his notebook during his impromptu flight with All Might.
At the same time, a familiar blue reporter happened apon a scorched notebook in an alley. Curiously, she read it. And she was floored. The information in that notebook was valuable, she couldn't believe it was left in a back alley like this! So, after packing it away in her purse she decided to bring it to her boss to see if this "Midoryia Izuku" could possibly be swayed to their side. She could only imagine the boon an analyst of this level could be for their forces.
Time passed and eventually Izuku was brought to Daika City to meet the leader of the new Meta Liberation Army. He was excited, but the meeting was going sour. It turns out that Izuku had happened apon the only original copy left in Japan. The ones this new MLA had were ones that had been edited to fit the views society has on things now, not from back in Destro's time. Turns out, in order to gain more control the HPSC had called for all original copies of Meta Liberation War to be recalled and edited to fit their views. Izuku was outraged that this so-called follower of Destro had dared to sully the work Destro put in for the creation of his ideal world. So he called them out.
Of course, no one in the room was happy with this, in their minds, outrageous claim. It was only the order from Re-Destro for them to calm down that Izuku wasn't punished for it. He was told to prove his claims with facts before even thinking of coming back to Deika City. Fortunately, ever since that fateful day his dreams were crushed he carried around the copy of MLW to keep his thoughts away from suicide.
And so, he began his tirade. He brought up the fact that Destro's mother herself was Quirkless. That in those times, those with Meta Abilities legally weren't allowed to have children. That if she had had Destro illegally she wouldn't have called him her son so openly and so often. The final nail in the coffin was the book that started all of this. The thing that gave him hope. His light in darkness. The original copy of Meta Liberation War. After seeing the tatterd old thing, Re-Destro was astounded that Izuku's book was looked so old and tattered. He accused Izuku of mistreating it, at least until he was convinced to read it. And after doing so, he felt ashamed. The facts were before him, and he knew that he had failed his ancestor. He bought the lies the government fed him, and led his army in the wrong direction. He didn't feel like who he was supposed to be. And, through a series of events Izuku became the new leader of the MLA. And he will liberate. For the good of the Quirked, and the Quirkless.
