Request: a perfect morning. Y/n and Kayce spend a summer day up in a cabin somewhere in the mountains (after not really seeing each other for weeks) and drink coffee and maybe Kayce convinces y/n to walk around in just underwear and his t - shirt? Just basically a cute morning in the mountains.

You couldn't remember the last time you had gotten to sleep in without an alarm. It had to have been months if you thought hard enough. But now the sun was shining in your eyes, and you needed to turn over if you wanted to try and find a few more minutes of sleep. The problem was your boyfriend had his arm around you, his face nuzzled into the back of your neck, and you could feel his soft breaths against your skin.

It had been almost three weeks since you had actually spent time with Kayce. His role as Livestock Commissioner had taken him to the west side of Montana, chasing cattle thieves and then on his way back he was sidetracked on one of the Reservations for a bad horse sale that ended up with four men dead. Safe to say, last night when he walked through the cabin doors, you both had rented one up in the mountains for a few days, your arms hadn't unwrapped from him.

You blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the sun, but ultimately the rays made you sneeze. You shook yourself and Kayce, whose arm around you tightened and you hated that you woke him. But his laughter brought a quick smile to your face.

"Bless you," Kayce mumbled, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.

"Thanks," You giggled. "Sorry I woke you."

"Been in and out for a while," Kayce yawned, stretching now to give you room to roll over onto your back and away from the sunlight. "Good morning."

"Good morning," You smiled up at him. His caramel eyes were sleepy but happy looking and it made your heart grow, seeing him more relaxed than you had in a long time.

I guess three rounds last night would do that to a man.

"Did you sleep good?" He asked you, brushing your hair away from your eyes as he laid his head next to yours on the pillow.

"Mhmm," You nodded your head. "You?"

"Best I've slept in a year," Kayce sighed, shutting his eyes.

You watched him for a few minutes, enjoying just being with Kayce in the silence. Your eyes then scanned the small cabin, having not really looked at it much last night. When you saw the small kitchen off to one corner, you spotted a coffee pot and you silently screamed in delight.

"Baby," You leaned over to Kayce, your lips pressing against his cheek. "Do you want some coffee?"

"Can you make it without leaving the bed?" Kayce smiled.

"Wouldn't that be a talent?" You laughed, kissing his lips quickly before sitting up and stretching your arms. You felt Kayce's hand rub up and down your back, your skin loving his touch.

Swinging your legs over the side of the bed, you grabbed your underwear tossed to the floor and slipped it on before looking for your shirt. It was slightly chilly away from the bed and Kayce's warmth. But you couldn't find wherever Kayce had thrown it last night.

"Wear mine," Kayce mumbled, his eyes watching you like a hawk. You gave him a playful eye roll before grabbing his tan button down and slipping your arms through it. You buttoned up a few buttons as you walked over to the kitchen.

Making the coffee was easy, while you waited for it to brew, you moved over to the sliding glass doors that led out to the small porch, where just beyond was a break in the trees and you could see the peaks of the mountain range high above you. They had a dusting of snow at the tops, and you had your first yearning for winter. You heard a clink of glass and looked back to the Kitchen where Kayce was pulling two mugs out of the cabinet. He had pulled on his boxers and t-shirt.

"Thought I was making coffee?" You smirked, walking over.

"Yeah, but you like when I make you coffee," Kayce pulled the pot out and filled up both mugs. You watched him put a little bit of sugar in yours before handing it over to you.

"Thank you," You whispered, blowing on the steaming beverage as your eyes looked at Kayce.

Kayce placed a kiss on your forehead before grabbing his mug and stepping around you to look out the doors your just had. Your coffee almost burned your tongue, but it fed an energy into your veins. You looked over at Kayce who sat down in one of the plush arms chairs in the living room portion of the cabin. His eyes danced over to you, and he smiled behind his coffee.

"What?" He mumbled.

"You wanna stay here forever?" You asked him, leaning against the counter.

He thought about it for a moment, taking a sip of coffee. Leaning back in his chair he looked you up and down. "I just want you forever...don't care where we are."

You smiled, walking over to him, and climbing into his lap. His arm wrapped around you, holding you against him as you leaned your head between his collar and jaw. Kayce spun the chair to the side so you both could look outside the door. After a while you figured it had been enough time you could ask him how everything the last few weeks had been.

"Are you okay?" You whispered into his chest.

"I am now," Kayce's deep voice vibrated through his chest and into your skin.

"What happened?" You pressed gently.

Kayce took a deep sigh.

"Just bad people," He answered. He rubbed his hand up and down your side lovingly while you listened to his heartbeat.

"Seems like there's a lot of those lately," You mumbled, taking a sip of your coffee as Kayce hummed in agreement.

"Anything you want to do today?" Kayce asked after a while.

"This," You answered, and Kayce chuckled.

You had finished your coffee and needed a refill, so you stood up and made your way back over to the pot, pouring another cupful. You walked through the small space and looked through the cabinets and the fridge. There were a few items, but not enough for you to make lunch and supper later.

"You think those fishing rods in the shed outback work?" You asked, glancing over at Kayce.

"Maybe," He shrugged. "Why, you wanna fish?"

"I thought maybe you could," You shut the fridge and walked back over to where Kayce was sitting. "I could do a fish fry for supper?"

"You gonna let me fish?" Kayce smirked up at you. "What's the catch?"

"Hopefully supper," You winked. "You love fishing."

"I do," Kayce smiled. "You just don't let me that often."

"Oh please," You rolled your eyes, sitting back down in his lap and snuggling against him. "Probably because you always ask when there's tons of chores to do."

"You wanna come with?" Kayce's lips brushed against your cheek.

"Sure," You shrugged. "But I need a shower."

"You need to shower before you fish?" Kayce raised an eyebrow. "Baby,"

"I smell like last night," You laughed. "My hair is a wreck."

"And?" Kayce chuckled.

"And..." You sighed with a smile. "And I can be ready in ten minutes."

"That's my girl," Kayce squeezed your sides as you both stood up.

You both got ready, throwing on some clothes, and grabbing your gear while Kayce looked at the rod. You met him out the back door, slipping into some water boots.

"Will they work?" You asked, pulling your hair through a baseball cap of Kayce's.

"I think they will," Kayce stood up and turned to face you with the rods. "Ready?"

"You look like Tate," You smiled at him. "All excited."

"Well," Kayce sat the rods down and walked up to you, holding onto your hips. "I'm in the mountains, away from work, and about to go fishing with my girl."

"Sounds like a nice day," You smirked up at him.

"It's my heaven," Kayce leaned down and kissed you.
