Request - What if Tate went to Kayce and asked to be an older brother? And Kayce is more than happy to make that happen. Reader has been married to Kayce for a year, and she wants to start to try for kids but hasn't told Kayce yet so one night while they are in bed, they both bring it up. Just an idea!
"Hey Dad?" Tate asked from the backseat of Kayce's truck.
Kayce had just picked Tate up from his mom's house on the reservation and was headed back to the ranch.
"Yeah?" Kayce glanced in the rearview mirror.
"I know you're married to Y/N now," Tate has a serious look on his face.
"Uh...I am?" Kayce said. "You were in the wedding, buddy."
"I know," Tate shrugged. "But I had a question since you're married to Y/N now."
"Okay?" Kayce shifted in his seat, confused as to where this was going.
"Does that mean I could be a brother finally?" Tate asked.
"A brother?" Kayce glanced back at him. "You wanna be a brother?"
"Yeah," Tate nodded. "I wanna be a big brother. I think I want a little brother, but I'd also take a little sister too."
"Well buddy," Kayce had a small smile on his face.
"I know it's not really you," Tate looked out the window. "Kids at school said the mom does all the work, so that's why I thought you could maybe talk to Y/N about it."
"I can do that," Kayce nodded.
"Do you want another kid?" Tate asked him.
"Yeah, I do," Kayce smiled.
"Do you think Y/N wants to have a baby?" Tate asked him.
"Babies are a big commitment," Kayce said, pulling into the ranch. "But how about I talk to Y/N about it, and we'll see what goes from there?"
"Thanks, Dad," Tate smiled.
Later that night
You pulled your hair into a ponytail before walking out of the bathroom and shutting off the light. It was past eleven, you had allowed Tate to stay up late since it was a Friday. Kayce was already in bed, on his side facing where you were about to be.
You turned off the lamp on the dresser before walking around the bed and climbing under the sheets. It was getting colder now and while you originally thought it was rich to have a fireplace in your bedroom, you were now grateful for the Dutton family putting one in here when he built this addition on all those years ago.
You snuggled down into the sheets, looking over to find Kayce smirking at you.
"May I help you?" You raised an eyebrow at him.
"C'mere," Kayce reached out with his arm and pulled your body over next to his.
You giggled, leaning your head against his while your finger traced up and down his arm. You had been in town all day, helping your sister and her family move so your body was a little sore going up and down stairs and loading boxes.
"Tate asked me a funny question this afternoon," Kayce said.
"There's no telling with that boy," You smiled. "What did he want?"
"To be a big brother," Kayce whispered.
Your fingers stopped tracing as you leaned back to look up at Kayce's face.
"Does he know what that actually means?" You asked him.
"That's where you'd be proud," Kayce chuckled. "He said the mom does all the work anyway, so he wanted me to see where you stood on having a baby sibling for him."
"Guess he is learning," You laughed.
"So, what do you think?" Kayce asked.
"About him having a little sibling?" You blinked.
"Yeah," Kayce nodded.
"We've been married for a little over a year," You said. "We talked about kids...do you feel ready?"
"I asked you first, baby," Kayce smiled.
"It would change everything," You leaned your head back and looked up at the ceiling. "It wouldn't be just you and me every day...and of course Tate when he's with us."
"While I love that it's you and me every day," Kayce pressed a kiss to your temple. "I do know we'd both love another with us...or two."
"One step at a time, cowboy," You smirked, reaching up and placing your palm on his cheek.
Kayce turned and kissed your palm.
"I think we're ready," You admitted quietly, your eyes dancing around Kayce's face. "And it would be nice to have little feet running around this place."
Kayce smiled while he leaned down and kissed your lips softly.
"I love you," Kayce murmured.
"Love you more," You turned into him, wrapping your arm around his neck.
"Ain't possible," Kayce rolled onto his back while you giggled.
You pressed kisses against his cheek and jaw.
"There's no way you love me more than I love you," You smiled.
Kayce's fingers tickled your sides, making you squirm and sit up to where you were straddling his waist, smiling down at him. Kayce's eyes were bright staring up at you, his hands on your bare thighs.
Six weeks later
You walked out of the bathroom and into the living room where Kayce was polishing one of his shotguns at the table.
"You need to call your son," You said, leaning against the door frame.
"What for?" Kayce looked up at you.
"Tell him the good news," You smiled.
"What good news?" Kayce sat the barrel down on the towel.
You pulled a white stick out from behind your back and held it up for Kayce to see.
"He's gonna get his wish," You giggled as Kayce jumped from the couch and wrapped you up into his arms.
"You're pregnant?" Kayce asked in between kisses.
"We're gonna have a baby," You smiled, hugging Kayce close to you.
