Request - Is when Tate gets kidnapped (season 2), and the reader is there because she got kidnapped for another reason and she protects Tate and gets beat up trying to protect him so when Kayce comes to rescue Tate that take her with because Tate doesn't want to leave her. Something along that line.
You weren't sure how long you had been sitting in the chair with your hands tied behind your back. Had it been two days or three? Your head was killing you, but that was probably because you had smarted off to one of the guys and he hit you across the temple with his gun. You had no idea where you were, a bathroom of sorts, but you could feel the cold wind come through the cracks under the window off to your right.
There was movement suddenly and they door swung open. Two men in masks came in, tossing a little kid inside. He couldn't have been older than seven or eight from the looks of him. He was crying and the men were laughing at him before they walked out and shut the door again. You frowned as the boy kept his face to the ground, his sobs quiet, but painful.
"Hey," You whispered softly.
The kid snapped his head around to look at you. His eyes were wild, his fists pulled up as though he was prepared to fight again. He looked terrified.
"I don't think you have to worry about me," You shrugged to show him your hands were tied. It didn't seem to calm him much, but he did sit back down, kicking his legs out. "Are you hurt? Did they hurt you?"
He just stared at you. You sighed, not having a child of your own or really been around kids, you weren't quite sure what else to say to him. Especially if he wasn't going to talk to you.
"Do you have a name?" You tried one last time.
"Tate."
Your eyes perked up when you heard him answer.
"Tate?" You asked and the little boy nodded. "Well, Tate...nice to meet you. My name is Y/N."
"Do you know my dad?" Tate asked and you felt your heart break.
He had a family.
Of course, he had a family.
"I don't," You shook your head. "Is your dad looking for you?"
Tate shrugged.
"Well, maybe he'll come find you and we can both get out of here?" You smiled.
"Where are we?" Tate asked.
"I don't know," You shrugged, wincing when your wrist was pulled against the rope.
"Do you need help?" Tate stood up.
You hadn't even thought about the fact that Tate could untie your hands. This is why you were terrible at being kidnapped. Tate moved behind you and, in a few minutes, you felt relief from not having the rope cut into your skin.
"Thank you," You brought your hands around to your front and rubbed your raw wrists.
Tate walked and stood in front of you, but then you both heard footsteps. You immediately grabbed him, pulling him behind you as you stood up from the chair. The door swung open, and a bag of deer jerky was tossed inside along with two waters.
"Hey!" You called and tried to run but the door was shut and locked, your fists banging on the wood. "Let us out of here!"
For four more days you stayed with Tate in that bathroom. You learn a lot about someone staying in such close quarters, especially strangers. You learned Tate had divorced parents, his mother lived on the reservation and his father on his family ranch. You tried to not hide your relief when you heard Yellowstone...that meant this kid had people looking for him. You never had met the Duttons, but John was infamous at not stopping until he got what he wanted, and his grandson was probably at the top of that list.
