Request - Reader has a sex dream about Kayce and she can't look him in the eye.
You shot up in bed, clutching your chest and breathing hard. It was still early enough in the morning where there was only a faint light coming up over the horizon. You stretched your legs out and tried to regulate your breathing.
You could still almost feel his hands on your skin, pulling your hips up and tangling in your hair. You could feel his breath against your neck, his lips pressing into your skin...his tongue tracing circles as his head dipped lower.
"Stop it," You pressed the heels of your palm against your eyes.
You kicked your covers off you and got out of bed, walking into the bathroom, and turning on the light. Your cheeks were still pink, and your eyes were bright, staring back at you in the mirror.
The strangest thing about this dream of yours way there was nothing from reality where you could have pulled from. You had never felt his hands on your skin, pulling at your hips. You had never felt his breath on your neck or his lips anywhere, certainly not his tongue.
He was basically your boss.
After getting ready, you pulled on your scrub shirt and tucked it into your jeans. You knew you needed to leave now to make it to the ranch before the wranglers were too awake to make your job harder. It was baby calves season, and you were prepared to help give birth to at least seven today from your records.
The drive was the same it had been for the last four months. Sure, there was space on the ranch for you to stay, but you didn't want to sleep in the bunkhouse and the main house was too intimidating. You pulled up in between the bunkhouse and the foreman's cabin.
And he was in the foreman's cabin.
Kayce walked out of the front door, and you felt your heartbeat faster. Why did he have to wear your favorite light blue button-down of his? Why did his jeans have to look that good? And why the fuck did he already have his cowboy hat on?
You were going to wait until he passed your Jeep and follow him. Due to your dream, there was no way you were going to be able to act normal around him today. Maybe not even the next day.
But Kayce liked you.
Not in a romantic way, you would always tell yourself, but in a friendly way. You chalked it up to the reason being that you weren't a cemented part of this place. You were different. You were kind. You listened and understood...and over the past four months, Kayce had grown found of having you around.
You also noticed that Kayce wasn't as harsh around you. He didn't lose his temper as easily as he did with others. He would also listen when you would give orders or ask for help when it came to the livestock. You also seemed to be the only person on the ranch, besides when his son would be there, to make Kayce smile.
A knock on your widow caused you to jump.
Kayce smirked at you from outside your Jeep, waiting for you to come out. You took a deep breath and turned your car off, opening your door.
"Mornin'," Kayce's voice was rough.
"Good morning," You kept your eyes on the dirt, knowing your blush would spread if you met his eyes.
"Babies today?" Kayce asked.
"Huh?" Your head snapped up before you could stop it.
Kayce gave you an odd look and you cleared your throat, turning around and grabbing your vet bag from the backseat.
"Babies? Your birthing babies today, right?" Kayce asked as you shut the back door.
"Oh...uh, yeah," You started to walk to the barn, Kayce right next to you.
