Request – Y/N started working on the ranch and immediately sparks fly but because she works there, they keep their relationship a secret even though it's getting serious. Because the other wranglers don't know one night when she is out, during poker or something the guys start saying how hot she is, that when she comes back, they are going to ask her out and just generally locker room talk until Kayce has enough and puts them in their place and says hey you're talking about my almost finance watch it.
"We need to get back out there," You whispered, but let Kayce press his lips to yours once again.
"My family owns the ranch," Kayce muttered, his hands running through your hair.
"Exactly," You giggle. "I can't be caught making out with my boss technically. Might look bad to the other workers."
"Fuck the other workers," Kayce growled and deepened the kiss.
You and Kayce had done a surprisingly good job at hiding your year-long relationship at the Yellowstone Ranch. When you had first arrived, you hadn't planned on staying long, just through the summer before heading south. But the youngest Dutton had charmed his way into your mind and eventually your heart. You sense of humor and strong morals had been magnetic to Kayce...and soon you caught on he would request you in his team out during the days working. Or if he needed help in town, you'd always be one of the crew he would ask.
Eventually, you two would work together alone on projects and tasks. That's when you learned more about who Kayce was underneath his stubborn, stoic exterior. He was a dreamer, needing the open space and wild ways of cowboys to help him escape the world's evils. You humbled him though, made him work towards his responsibilities in life. You challenged him to be more level-headed and even-tempered...He challenged you to listen to your heart and take chances.
"Okay," You pressed against Kayce's chest, detaching from him so you could breathe. "I at least need to get back out there and do my job."
"If you'd marry me, you wouldn't have that as your job," Kayce pulled you back into his arms.
"We need to date for more than a year," You rolled your eyes. "I told you...I want you to be sure."
"I'm as sure as a heart attack," Kayce smirked.
"I'm sure you will be...after a year," You rolled your eyes.
Kayce had been vocal about marrying you for a few weeks now. But you wanted to make sure you were meant to be first. Too many people in your life got married too early and they all ended tragically. You didn't want that, but you especially didn't want that with Kayce.
"You coming to my place tonight?" Kayce ignored you.
"Yeah," You sighed. "There's a poker game tonight, so if I can leave before they start, they won't notice anything."
"I can come down needing something," Kayce kissed your forehead.
"What will you need late at night?" You laughed, squeezing his middle.
"You," Kayce raised an eyebrow.
You rolled your eyes, but finally untangled yourself from Kayce. As you made your way out of the horse stall you two had been hiding in, you looked both ways before walking out of the barn. You glanced back to see Kayce watching you, sending you a wink and making you blush as you put your hat back on your head.
Later that evening
You had finished with your shower and changed into some clean clothes by the time the poker game had started. When you walked out, they wranglers were already rowdy, laughing and drinking beer. You shook your head as you walked over to your bunk.
