Request - You were dating Kayce, and you and Tate were coming back from town, and you guys got into a car accident, but you got the worst of it because you turned the car to the side so that wouldn't get hurt at all and you end up either in a coma or temporarily paralyzed since your muscles around your spine get crushed.

Author's Note – honestly, didn't realize I wanted to do a one shot like this until it was requested. So, thank you for that and hopefully it's a good one 😊

You were in so much pain. You've been bucked off horses, caught in bar fights, and even once fell from a tree when you were little, but this was something else. You knew you were still in the truck; you could feel the seatbelt around you still. The radio was softly playing too, but there was this smell.

It smelled like burnt rubber and asphalt. Slowly opening your eyes, you could see the entire windshield cracked and shattered. There was smoke coming from the engine of the truck too. When you looked to the side, your whole driver's door was compressed inward, into you. You tried to push away but cried out in pain.

"Y/N...?" Tate was groggy sounding from the back seat. You looked behind you and saw he was holding his head.

"Tate, are you okay?" You felt your eyes sting.

"I think so," He moaned.

You gasped as you tried to take a deep breath and looked down at where the pain was shooting from your leg. There was a shard of metal from the door cutting into your hip area. You felt light-headed and looked away, shutting your eyes, and trying to breath deeply.

"Y/N?" Tate undid his seatbelt and scooted forward.

"Don't look, baby," You opened your eyes. "It's not good. My leg isn't good."

"What happened?" Tate reached out and touched your cheek with his smaller hand.

"I'm okay," Your voce was shaky. You looked forward again and could see the large delivery-like van next to you now. Their front was crunched into your driver's door...which explained a lot.

"Tate," You pulled your phone up from the drink holder. "I need you to call 9-1-1 and tell them to send an ambulance to Highway 4, near 1588. Can you do that for me?"

Tate nodded and started to dial.

The two of you had been coming back to the ranch from running some errands in town earlier today. It had been a great day with some bonding time for both of you. You got lunch at Tate's favorite pizza place and even had an ice cream afterwards, while walking around town. On the way home, you took a different route because of the traffic, wanting to make it back for supper for Kayce didn't have to face his father alone for a meal. But suddenly you saw a big object not stop at a stop sign and then things got fuzzy.

"They said fifteen minutes," Tate hung up the phone.

"Thanks, buddy," You offered him a smile through your pain. "I need you to call your dad now, okay? Tell him exactly what you told 9-1-1, can you do that?"

"Yeah," Tate looked at your phone and pressed the screen. "Dad? Y/N and I got into a car accident..."

You felt yourself get lightheaded as you listened to Tate. You knew why, but still didn't look down at your hip again. When you heard the sirens in the distance was when you allowed yourself to close your eyes...

When you opened them again you were in a hospital room, with monitors all around you and beeping coming from both sides. You were propped to the right side though, your hip had been wrapped tightly, along with your left wrist bandaged. You still had pain, but it was a dull, pounding one. Not like the sharp, take your breath away kind like earlier. Your mind flashed back to Tate holding his head and you got worried.
