Request idea: what if Y/N and Kayce are dating and he finds out she hasn't ridden a horse before because she is afraid. So rather than have her ride her own horse Kayce lifts her up and gets on behind her like so he is holding her and the reins, and he says trust me I won't let anything bad happen to you. Kind of just fluff Kayce in his element showing her the land but being sweet? :)

Author's Note – I have the reader here being around twenty-five and Kayce being around twenty-seven!

You pulled your Jeep up next to Kayce's truck and slowly got out. Your jaw would have dropped had you not pulled yourself together before entering his family's ranch. You knew it was massive, everyone talked about it, but seeing it in person was something else.

You walked over some and looked out over the green pastures up to the mountain range. You weren't entirely sure what to wear today, so you decided on a pair of faded jeans, tucked into some black boots and a white button-down with the sleeves rolled up. When Kayce told you to come to him, you suddenly got nervous. All of your previous dates had been Kayce picking you up at your apartment in town...this was your first time coming to him.

"Hey there," Kayce hollered as he walked toward you from inside the house.

"You have a mountain range in your backyard," You pointed like he wouldn't know what you were talking about.

"Yeah," Kayce chuckled, reaching you. "You get used to it."

His arms pulled you into him for a hug, distracting you for a moment. You leaned up on your toes and as you kissed him hello, his bread scratching your face and making you giggle.

"Gonna have to trim that soon," You smiled up at him. "But...hi there"

"You look nice," Kayce's eyes dipped down your figure and you felt your cheeks blush.

"Jeans and boots, Dutton," You pushed him away and instead of going into the house, you started walking down a dirt road to what you guessed was the barn. "You've seen 'em before."

"They look good on you," Kayce commented and you knew without turning around he was looking at your ass.

"I know your daddy is inside there," You looked back over your shoulder. "Don't make me get him."

"Yes, ma'am," Kayce jogged over to walk along with you, his fingers lacing with yours on your left hand. "How was your day?"

"Long, but good," You sighed. "Got to see a calf be born though in my morning class."

"Ever seen that before?" Kayce asked you.

"No," You giggled. "We don't really have a lot of baby calves in Seattle."

"Well then I'm glad you chose Montana for vet school," Kayce smirked over at you. "Just think, one more month and you're done."

"I'll be done," you smiled at the thought. "Last three years flew by."

The two of you made it to the barn and you could see how busy it was with all the wranglers walking about doing different tasks. A big guy in a cowboy hat and dark sunglasses walked past you and nodded his head.

"That's Rip," Kayce explained.

"What kind of name is Rip?" You looked up at Kayce.

"What he's always been called," Kayce shrugged. "Come on."

Kayce led you inside the barn and you could smell the mixture of horses, leather, and the outdoors. Your boots echoed on the floors as you followed Kayce into one of the stalls after he looked to make sure the coast was clear.
