Request - Bad weather, reader is a friend. The reader is scared and holds onto Kayce. Kayce tells her " your safe with me " or something like that and later they get together.

"I should get back before it gets worse," You said looking out the large windows at the lodge.

"Worse?" Kayce asked you, coming up behind and watching another streak of lightning strike across the sky.

You jumped at the thunder, but lucky for you Kayce thought it was because he surprised you by being so close. The truth was that storms terrified you. There was something about the lack of control you had over them. Rain, thunder, lightning, wind...all of it was out of your control and could do damage if you weren't careful.

As if on cue, the lights flickered in the room, making both you and Kayce look up at them briefly.

"We've got a generator down in the cellar," Kayce said. "Let me go make sure it's charging still."

"I'll come with you," You said and Kayce gave you a funny look.

"S'alright, stay here," Kayce smiled. "Won't take me long."

"I've never seen it," You followed him.

"The cellar?" Kayce asked and you nodded. "It's s cellar Y/N...ain't nothing special about it."

Thankfully you were walking when another round of thunder shook the windows. You jumped, but you hoped your feet covered for you. Kayce still eyed you as you both made your way past the kitchen and into the mud room. There was a door that opened into the cellar.

You waited at the entrance as Kayce walked over to the generator in the corner. He tapped it and leaned down.

"Looks like it's ready just in case," Kayce stood back up and walked over to you. "You don't like storms, do you?"

"What do you mean?" You shrugged, turning around and walking back into the kitchen.

"You jump at thunder and you've been nervous all afternoon," Kayce followed you. "You kept looking at the clouds."

"We need the rain," You argued. "Just glad to see rain clouds."

"Y/N..." Kayce walked over to you, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Kayce..." You mimicked his tone.

Kayce kept staring at you and for a few seconds, you got lost in his eyes. You felt your demeanor fizzle away until a bright light flashed in through the kitchen window. You knew you only had a second, but you weren't quick enough.

The loud thunder shot through your body and on instinct you reached out, holding Kayce's arm rightly with your hand.

"Still glad about the rain?" Kayce smirked at you.

"Don't be a dick," You rolled your eyes.

You went to pull away, but another loud thunder boomed across the sky. So instead of releasing Kayce, you stepped into him, your other hand fisting his button down. Kayce held your waist as he looked down at you with softer eyes now, clearly seeing how bothered you were by the storm.

"Hey," He said gently, making you look up at him. "You're safe with me...it's just a rainstorm."

"Okay fine," You sighed. "I don't like storms."

"Come with me," Kayce reached up to your hand holding his shirt, and laced his fingers through yours.

He led you back through the house and upstairs to where his bedroom was. In your short friendship with Kayce, you haven't ever seen his bedroom. It was simple and organized, with a soft green cover on the bed with a few personal items scattered around. If it weren't for the dark clouds, you could tell he probably had a killer view out his windows too.

"What are you doing?" You asked as Kayce walked over to the windows and pulled the curtains across them.

"We...are going to get your mind off the storm," Kayce then flipped on his nightstand lamp, casting the room in a golden glow. "Wanna watch a movie or something?"

There was rumbling in the distance.

"Sure," You said, the thought of having to relive the storm sounds over and over sounded exhausting to you.

You watched Kaye walk over to the television set and mess around with a movie while you walked over to his bed and sat down on the edge. You took a deep breath, your eyes glancing around the room again.

"You can take your boots off and stay a while," Kayce joked as he pressed play, walking back over to the side of the bed.

He kicked his boots off and laid back against the pillows. You slowly pulled your boots off, placing them gently on the ground before you turned and crawled up to the bed on the other side. Kayce had comfortable pillows, you would give him that, as you settled back against them.

The movie began to play, and you recognized the older Western introduction. Turning on your side, facing Kayce, you started to relax some.

But then there was a flash of light behind the curtains, and you tensed, the sound making you scoot closer to Kayce. He looked down at you and sighed.

"C'mere," Kayce reached over and pulled you flush against him.

"Sorry," You felt embarrassed.

"Don't be," Kayce chuckled. "Kind of like this."

"Like what?" You looked at him, both of you know nose to nose.

"Being this close to you," He said gently, the move long forgotten now.

You couldn't look away from his eyes, almost golden now from the lamp shining into them. You saw a smirk dance across his lips though.

"What?" You asked.

"You didn't flinch," Kayce said. "It just thundered, and you didn't flinch this time."

"I didn't hear it," You answered honestly.

Kayce reached up and brushed your hair out of your face, his thumb smoothing over your cheek. You felt his other hand hold your lower back, pressing you against him.

"Will you promise not to slap me if I kiss you?" Kayce asked, his eyes dancing between yours.

You didn't answer him, leaning closer and kissing him instead. His lips were soft, despite riding in the wind for hours earlier. Your hands pulled him closer to you by his shirt as he kissed you back.

Kayce rolled you gently under him more, one of his knees sliding between your legs. You forgot all about the storm, the movie, where you were. All you could think about was Kayce.

Being friends had been fun, you've enjoyed the friendship more times than you could count. But this? This was ten times better and you found yourself thinking why you hadn't explored this sooner with the youngest Dutton.

Kayce's hand on your waist moved between your shirt and skin, up your side as his tongue swirled around yours before he gently bit your bottom lip. You reached up and pushed his hair back, moaning softly into his mouth.

"Wait...wait..." Kayce breathed out, parting his lips from yours.

"What?" You gasped, trying to catch your breath.

Had you done something wrong? Was he taking it all back now that he had kissed you?

"I-I just need..." Kayce looked at you and let out a laugh. "Just need to pause."

"Something wrong?" You licked your lips as you leaned up on your elbows while Kayce leaned back a few inches.

"No, nothing's wrong babe," Kayce smirked as he ran a hand through his hair.

You felt the excitement run down your spine at the pet name.

"I just wanna try and stay a gentleman," Kayce smiled at you.

You understood then and giggled. Taking a deep breath, you leaned over and rested your head on Kayce's chest while he held you against him again.

"Think we found a cure for your fear of storms though," Kayce mumbled to you.
