Request - Can we have a Kayce and Oakley oneshot where she comes over during winter break and they just hang out? You can make them a couple or just friends...whichever but Kayce's like really touchy and Oakley holds him and runs her fingers through his hair? Just loves on him some? Thank you - I love this couple and your story so much!!!
Author's Note - Thank you for your kind words! I'm going to put them in senior year...so they would be a couple at this point :)
"Hey Oaks," John said opening the front door. "Didn't know you'd be coming over?"
"Kayce asked," Oakley stepped inside out of the cold. "Hope that's alright?"
"Anytime," John shut the door. "Are you staying for supper?"
"If that's okay too?" Oakley blushed.
"You're always welcome here, Oakley," John nodded, walking off. "I think Kayce's in his room or somewhere upstairs."
Oakley walked up the stairs, glancing at the photos on the walls as she did. She had this place memorized, but that didn't mean she didn't like to look at Kayce's past as she made her way back to his bedroom.
It was winter break, so she knew Beth and Jamie must be back from Utah and Boston. Lee was probably in the foreman's cabin. Only Kayce and her were in their senior year of high school. They only had one more semester left and Oakley was both nervous and excited about whatever the future held.
She looked into Kayce's bedroom and saw him sitting on the bed. He was looking at some journal-looking thing in his hands as Oakley pushed the door open. The creak made Kayce look up and break into a smile.
"Hey cowboy," Oakley smirked and waltzed over to Kayce.
He barely had enough time to toss the journal to the side as Oakley wrapped her arms around his neck and fell into him, forcing Kayce backward onto the bed. Oakley's nose was tucked into his neck as she giggled.
"I didn't hear the doorbell," Kayce wrapped his arms around Oakley's back.
"Your Dad opened the door," Oakley leaned up and looked down at Kayce, catching his frown. "Uh oh...what happened?"
"Nothing," Kayce rolled his eyes.
"Don't seem like nothing," She tilted her head.
"It's fine, Oaks," Kayce sighed, rubbing her sides up and down.
Oakley leaned to the side, propping herself up on her elbow. Kayce eyed her for a moment and when he realized she wasn't going to drop it he let out a deep sigh.
"We got into it today," Kayce mumbled.
"Y'all are batting a thousand," Oakley commented. "You've fought with him every day for a week now, Kayce."
"And?" Kayce snapped. "S'not my fault he's a dick who thinks he knows exactly what I need to do with my life."
"What happened?" Oakley sat up, looking down at Kayce. "Tell me."
Kayce sighed and sat back up.
"Lee's gonna run this place one day," Kayce ran a hand through his hair. "And if he gets hit by a bus tomorrow it'll fall to Jamie."
"I thought we knew this?" Oakley asked.
"Then why does my dad act like I'm gonna take it over?" Kayce looked at Oakley. "With everything he asks of me...all this training and work he makes me do...what's it all for if I ain't gonna have this."
"Do you want this?" Oakley tilted her head.
"You know I don't," Kayce said. "We've talked about this."
"Things can change," Oakley shrugged.
"Do you want this?" Kayce asked.
"I'm not the one fighting with my dad about this place," Oakley nudged Kayce's shoulder with her own.
"I just wish he'd ask, ya know?" Kayce leaned back and lay down on the bed. "Or at least ask me what I want."
"Tell him that," Oakley turned to face Kayce.
"You've met my father, right?" Kayce raised an eyebrow at her.
"I have," Oakley nodded, crawling up the bed so she could lay with Kayce. "But I'm just saying that maybe he feels like this is what you want and until you tell him otherwise, he's gonna keep feeling that way."
Oakley leaned on Kayce's chest, her chin resting on her hands. Kayce rubbed her back up and down as he thought.
"What does Lee say?" Oakley asked softly.
"About what?" Kayce asked.
"Have you talked to him about any of this?" Oakley shrugged. "Maybe he could help with your dad?"
"Dad's on his ass too," Kaye sighed. "Probably more than anyone else."
"What's the rush with your dad?" Oakley snuggled into Kayce. "He's still got some years left in him, right?"
"He's always acting like this place is under attack and he doesn't have any time left," Kayce said. "Been like that since mom died."
Oakley thought for a moment before she looked back up at Kayce.
"Does it seem to happen more often around the holidays?" She asked.
"Why?" Kayce looked confused.
"Maybe it's cause he gets a taste of his own mortality?" Oakley offered. "Holidays are hard enough without loved ones...maybe for your dad it's just a little harder?"
"Well, he can get in line," Kayce mumbled.
Oakley saw a sad look cross his face and she immediately scooted closer to Kayce, rising up some. She brought one of her hands up so her fingers could push Kayce's hair back. Her nails scratched his scalp as she watched his caramel eyes blink slowly.
"Maybe you all have a little harder of a time around holidays?" Oakley whispered. "Maybe if you could all see that and know it's okay...that might help?"
"Maybe..." Kayce sighed.
Oakey let her hand drop softly on Kayce's chest. His eyes opened fully again.
"Why'd you stop?" He asked.
Oakley smiled before leaning down and kissing his lips. Kayce hummed against her lips before he rolled them over, his fingers tangling in Oakley's hair now as he kissed her back. He deepened the kiss as Oakley's hands moved under Kayce's shirt, her nails scratching his skin above his jeans.
"Hey Kayce sup-oh God!" Jamie cried, making Oakley and Kayce look over to where he was standing at the door.
"Do you know how to fucking knock?" Kayce growled.
"Do you know how to fucking close a door?" Jamie snapped back.
"Stop yelling like fucking girls," Beth walked by behind Jamie. "Supper's ready."
Jamie flipped Kayce off as he left the bedroom too. Oakley laughed at how annoyed Kayce looked, sitting up and smoothing out her hair.
"Must you always mess up my hair?" Oakley scooted off the bed.
She didn't get far though, as Kayce wrapped his arm around her, pulling her back against his chest.
"Who kissed who first?" Kayce whispered against Oakley's ear.
"This damn cowboy I can't seem to get enough of," Oakley pushed Kayce off her as she stood up, adjusting her top.
Kayce stood up and as he walked past Oakley he swatted her ass.
"Kayce!" Oakley cried out.
"Stop having sex and come down, now!" Beth yelled up from the first floor.
"She's awful," Oakley slapped her cheeks in embarrassment.
Kayce just laughed as they made their way downstairs.
