But at first, she is afraid of being hurt she tries to hide her feelings and ask that they be friends first.

Part Three

You placed the pot roast into the oven, covered and surrounded by vegetables. It would take at least two hours for it to cook, which was plenty of time for you and your new...house guest. Kayce was sitting on your couch, a cold beer in his hand, watching you from across the room. While your cabin was small, the floor plan was open but cozy.

"Okay," You said, wiping your hands on a towel. "In around two hours it'll be ready."

"Smells good already," Kayce smiled at you.

You walked around, grabbing your beer off the counter, and sat down next to him. You brought your leg closest to him up and under you while you took a sip.

"Just glad I have someone to share that meat with or else I'd have leftovers for days," You smiled. "I can't remember the last time I cooked for someone, definitively haven't cooked for anyone here."

"Honored to be your first," Kayce tipped his head towards you.

"So," You leaned back until your shoulders hit the arm rest opposite Kayce. "The Yellowstone, huh?"

"Wondered when you'd get around to asking," Kayce chuckled. "What do you want to know?"

"I've heard things," You shrugged.

"What things?" Kayce asked. You could sense he was a little apprehensive.

"That y'all aren't as...ethical maybe?" You bit your lips. "Your dad seems to think he's the sheriff around here."

"Basically is," Kayce raised an eyebrow. "It's one of those things unless you know what it takes, it's probably hard to understand how to protect a place like that."

"Protect?" You asked. "Who's coming after it?"

Kayce smiled at you, almost like you were a child. "You'd be surprised."

"I'd love to see it sometime," You took another sip of your beer.

"Come anytime you'd like," Kayce finished his bottle. "I'll show you around."

"I'd like that," You spoke softly. The white snow made the light from the windows bright enough to not have any of the lights on. Kayce had lit a fire when you first got there, creating a nice glow around the room. "I can tell you love it."

"Love what?" Kayce questioned.

"Your home," You smiled. "Maybe not everything about it, but your eyes light up when you're talking about it."

"It's home I guess," Kayce chuckled, setting his empty bottle on the table in front of you both. "Only one I've ever had."

"Do you want another one?" You asked, looking at his beer.

"Uh, sure," Kayce said and so you got up, walking around back to the fridge and grabbing another bottle. You made a note you only have four left. You hadn't planned on having any visitors any time soon so hadn't stocked up much. Walking back over you handed Kayce his beer and this time sat right next to him. He looked a little shocked but thanked you.

"Why are you so comfortable?" You asked him.

"What do you mean?" He asked you, placing his arm along the back of the couch behind your head.

"I feel like I've known you longer than...five hours," You glanced at the clock on your wall. "You just feel familiar. I don't know."

You looked back over at Kayce and found him closer to you, his eyes locking on yours. You felt your heart pick up slightly, tingles shooting through your arms.

"No idea," Kayce shrugged.

You went to take another sip of your beer, but Kayce's hand stopped you, gently grabbing the bottle out of your hand and placing it next to his full one on the table. He leaned back and let his arm fall around your shoulders now.

"I think I wanna kiss you," Kayce spoke low and slow. Your bright eyes blinked a few times, making sure you heard him correctly. Kayce was watching you; he hadn't made a move to get closer yet though.

"I'd be careful if I were you," You whispered out.

"Why's that?" Kayce chuckled.

"I think I might kiss you back," You bit your bottom lip, begging him with your eyes to do something, anything.

Kayce's other hand moved to cup your cheek, turning your head more towards him and leaned his own head down. His lips brushed yours softly, almost like he was testing out whether you'd kiss back for real. You could taste the hints of beer on his lips as you slowly leaned up, kissing him fully now. Kayce pulled back, tilted his head the other way and then pulled you towards him more, your body scooting on the couch until you were pressed against him, before kissing you deeply again. His tongue swiped past your lips, meeting yours as you made your hand reach up and thread through his hair behind his neck.

You felt yourself falling backwards soon, your back hitting the couch as Kayce lay over you, keeping part of his body off yours though. One of his arms wrapped under your back, rolling you until you were both sharing the couch, laying down. You couldn't stop kissing his lips though, there was something forcing you to continue, to drink him in more and more.

You felt one of his rough hands against the skin of your side which was exposed because your shirt had ridden up with your movements. He inched his hand higher, going under your shirt but stopping right below your breast. A soft moan escaped your lips, but you felt Kayce tense and pause all his actions. He pulled his lips away from yours but kept the rest of his body as it was.

Caramel eyes found yours and the only thing you could hear was your breathing.

"What?" You asked breathless.

"I just," Kayce took a breath of his own. "I can't do much more."

"Oh?" You tried to lean back but you hit the back cushion of the couch, you were trapped between it and Kayce. "Sorry."

"No-No," Kayce shook his head, pulling you back into him. "I just...you can't make those sounds and expect me to not stay a gentleman."

Your cheeks burned at his comment because all the thoughts which popped into your mind. You felt his arms tense around you as you tried to move one of your legs to the side but ended up pushing it through both of his.

"Oh..." You giggled. "Well, we can slow it down some, might be a better idea."

Kayce went to sit up and you immediately missed his body next to yours. He pushed some of his hair away from his eyes and looked down at where you were still laying. Hands hand slowly moved back down your side, but before he could pull it from under your shirt you leaned up, reaching around his head and pulling his lips back to yours. Right back down, you both fell with small chuckles this time.

"Changed my mind," You tongue darted out to lick his top lip. "You have until the timer goes off."

"Yes ma'am," Kayce's eyes darkened at he kissed you again.

The End.
