Request - Kayce and the Reader are camping, and he protects her from a wolf or bear.
Was going to wait but already had this one written out so here's another one :)
You slowly opened your eyes and could barely make out your surroundings inside the tent. It was still dark, and you waited to see if your bladder would ease up...but no, you had to go. Sighing you slowly pulled the covers back off you and tried to wiggle out of Kayce's arms. He grunted but ended up reaching to hold your pillow as you eased your body up from the large cot. You turned around and saw Tate passed out in his sleeping bag and smiled. Slipping out of the tent's door, you pulled on your boots to make your way a off towards the trees.
After finishing your business, you took a few steps back towards camp when you stopped, hearing something coming from over to the right. You let your eyes adjust some before you saw the shape. The moon flashed in and out of the clouds above you to show a wolf staring back at you and your froze. The wolf wasn't in a defensive pose by any means, but it's eyes were trained directly on you and it's stance was solid. Your main concern was though if you started to head back would the wolf follow or worse, rush you?
You didn't have anything with you, and a quick glance confirmed there wasn't a stick or rock near you either. Your eyes met the wolf's again and you sighed. It took a step towards you and your breath hitched in your throat. If you screamed it could charge you, but at least you'd hopefully alert someone that you needed help.
There was a tree off to your left that had a branch you could se to hoist yourself up, but that was only if you were fast enough. The wolf took another step towards you and lowered it's head, the ears pinning back.
"Shit," You muttered and took a step to the side. A low growl came from deep within the wolf's neck and you decided it was going to be now or never. If you could get a head start, maybe you could stand a chance.
You looked one more time back at camp and took a deep breath, but when you looked back the wolf lunged towards you. You let out a cry and turned to run when a loud shot gun sound went off close to you. You immediately dropped to the ground and covered your head as another shot sounded throughout the valley.
A moment went by, and you didn't feel anything. Slowly you looked up and over to see Kayce standing with his shot gun raised, pointed at where the wolf had been. You didn't look at the wolf though, despite him probably killing you if he had the chance, you didn't want to see a dead animal if you didn't have to.
"Did you kill it?" You asked softly.
Kayce looked over to you with a frown. He lowered his shot gun and walked over to where you were still kneeling. He offered you his hand and helped you back into a standing position.
"Yeah," He replied softly. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," You sighed and reached down to brush off your knees, tears welling up in your eyes. "I'm sorry...I know I should have brought something with me, but I just thought I'd be quick, and I wasn't far...I didn't know it was here and I didn't want it to be killed."
"Shush," Kayce reached up and cupped your cheek with his free hand. "You're okay."
"I'm sorry," You bit your lips to help keep some of the tears from falling.
"I'm just glad you're not hurt," Kayce's thumb rubbed against your cheek. He looked back to where the wolf must be and sighed. "Let me take care of it, alright? But I'm gonna need you to hold this in case any more come up."
He was handing you his shotgun. You sniffed and took it from him, pointing it towards the ground and still refusing to look back.
"You're gonna have to watch me at least, baby," Kayce tilted your head to look at him. "Can you do that?"
