Request – The reader see some strange woman outside their cabin with Kayce. When the reader tries to confront the woman, she gets nervous, and the woman starts to be really weird toward the reader. Kayce then comes out the scares the strange woman off.

Author's Note – took this request and adapted it to what I thought was a situation a reader and Kayce might encounter on the ranch!

You were finished sweeping the front porch. It was going to be warm today, so it was still pretty early in the morning. But you wanted to be done with your outside chores before the temperatures got too hot.

When you glanced up you saw a woman walking up the drive to the cabin you shared with Kayce. You thought it was weird, seeing as you weren't expecting anyone, and you knew that John didn't have visitors up at the main lodge.

As the woman got closer, you didn't recognize her at all. You leaned the broom against the cabin wall and opened the screen door to poke your head inside.

"Babe?" You called out to Kayce who you thought was somewhere inside the cabin.

When you looked back you saw the woman hadn't stopped and was closer. You shut the screen door and walked down the stairs, not wanting her to get too close. As you walked up to meet her you glanced up at the lodge and couldn't see any cars up there.

"Can I help you?" You asked, holding your hand above your eyes to block out the sun.

"What?" The woman asked you.

"Can I help you?" You asked again, stopping altogether.

"Oh, sorry," The woman giggled. "I couldn't hear you."

She has a smile on her face but the whole situation was still strange. You waited a few seconds for her to answer your question, but she just kept looking at you.

"Are you...lost?" You asked, crossing your arms and wishing Kayce would hurry up.

"No," The woman shook her head.

"Okay," You swallowed, shifting on your feet. "Then what are you doing here?"

"I'm walking," The woman said.

"I can see that," You nodded. "But what are you doing on our property?"

"Property?" The woman rolled her eyes. "This is a national park."

"No..." You shook your head. "This is the Dutton Ranch."

"No, it's not," The woman argued.

"Yes, it is," You narrowed your eyes. "Look, what park were you trying to find, and I can point you in that direction."

"Okay," The woman held up her hands. "Look, this park is for everyone...so you and your redneck ways of wanting to own everything can just stand aside and let me continue on."

You blinked back at the woman, surprised.

"Okay, you see that cabin," You pointed behind you. "I live there...and you see that large lodge I'm sure you passed on your way down here? That's my father-in-law's place. This is our ranch, our home."

"This is the Grand Teton National Park you idiot," The woman snapped.

"Uh, no it's not," You eyed her. "Besides, most of those entrances are in Wyoming."

"Exactly," The woman rolled her eyes.

"This..." You laughed. "Ma'am, this is Montana."

"Are you gonna move or not?" The woman took a step toward you.

"You need to leave," You suddenly felt nervous. "Now."

"As I said you don't own this land!" The woman tried to walk around you, but you stepped in front of her.

"Get off our property," You held up your hands.

"Listen here you little bit-"

A loud gunshot rang out over the area. You and the woman flinched from the sound; both of your eyes wide. You looked over your shoulder and saw Kayce walking swiftly over to you, a shotgun in his hand.

"What the fuck?" The woman started to back up finally.

"Y/N..." Kayce looked at you as he got closer.

"She won't leave," You said. "I've told her she's on private property."

"Get the fuck out," Kayce pumped the gun, staring at the women.

"Are you fucking crazy?" The woman yelled.

"I won't ask again," Kayce glared.

"You can't just-"

Kayce fired the gun again into the air.

The woman looked at you before she took off running back up the path, yelling about rednecks or something else as she went. You felt your shoulders drop as the woman faded from view.

"I'll have the boys check the entrance," Kayce sighed. "Must have either jumped a fence or there was a gate not latched."

"She was crazy," You whispered, making Kayce look at you.

"And you were just chit-chatting away with her," Kayce snapped. "You gonna invite her to supper too?"

"I was trying to not come out, guns blazing," You rolled your eyes, pointing to Kayce's gun. "She had already called me a redneck."

"Baby, you should have come and got me," Kayce laughed.

"I called for you," You sighed. "But I also didn't want her wandering around the place either and lose her."

"So, you just decided to confront her?" Kayce smirked. "What if she had had a gun?"

"She was in Lululemon leggings," You laughed. "The worst she had was probably some expensive ass water bottle to throw at me."

"As charming as that is coming from you," Kayce wrapped his arm around your shoulder. "Next time just come get me, please."

"Call my redneck husband to come to save me from the city slickers?" You were heavy on your drawl as you both walked back to the cabin.

"Okay, you've had your fun," Kayce rolled his eyes.

"Should we go skin some squirrels next?" You poked Kayce's side. "Ain't two of your cousins getting married soon?"

"Now that you mention it," Kayce stopped and looked over at you. "Don't we share an Uncle Bob?"

You laughed out loud as you both walked up the steps.
