Request - Reader is sick / hurt and she's not used to being taken care of she's always had to do her own cooking / get things til Kayce, and she breaks down and cries saying " I'm not used to being taken care of " " well get used to it "

"I'll pick up your prescription when I go back into town later," Kayce said from the driver's side of his truck.

"Maybe there's some horse pills that'll just take me out all together?" You sighed from the passenger seat.

You had fallen off your horse, the first time in years, and landing just right to fracture your arm. Kayce had been kind enough to drive you into town to a clinic to have them x-ray and wrap a tight band around your forearm. The two of you had only been dating for a few weeks now, it was still in that sneak off to fool around in barn stalls, sleep under the stars together, find any kind of excuse to be next to each other...but respect that you were a wrangler while he was the heir to the ranch...stage in the relationship and you were loving it.

But this was something you weren't sure how Kayce would be, you being hurt. You were very independent, taking care of yourself since you were sixteen. Usually, when you got hurt or were sick, you kept to yourself and nursed yourself back to one hundred percent. But with this impacting your right arm, your dominant arm, there were some things you might not be able to do for a while.

"How's it feeling?" Kayce ignored your comment.

"Hurts like a bitch," You answered, wincing as he hit a dip in the road.

"Sorry," Kayce frowned. "We'll get you into bed when we get back to the ranch.

"Bed?" You looked at him. "I need to finish my work today."

"Just how ya gonna do that?" Kayce looked at you like you were crazy.

"I...don't know," You looked down at your arm and sighed.

Kayce pulled into the ranch, and you thought it was strange he didn't drive you over to the bunkhouse but up to the main house. When he turned the truck off and looked over at you, he shrugged.

"A bunk ain't the best place for you right now," Kayce opened his door.

"Kayce," You sighed but followed him out. "The guys won't like this...I already get looks when you come pick me up."

"I don't fucking care what they think," Kayce walked around the front of his truck to where you were standing. "Come on."

He led you up into the house and up the stairs. You followed him down a long hallway until he opened one of the bedroom doors. It was cozy and inviting, with a view of the land out one of the windows, the forest in the other.

"How about a rest until I get back with your prescription?" Kayce walked over to the bed.

"I can do it," You said softly as he pulled the sheets back.

You sat down on the bed and leaned over to take your boots off. You struggled with one arm and trying to use your other boot to wiggle it off.

"Here," Kayce bent down and pulled your boots off for you.

"Thanks," You blushed and looked up when Kayce stood in front of you.

"Scoot back," Kayce smiled at you.

You wiggled back onto the bed and leaned back so your head hit the pillows. Kayce walked around to the side of the bed and switched off the lamp on the nightstand.

"Comfy?" He asked you.

"Sure," You looked up at him, cradling your arm.

"You look uncomfortable," Kayce chuckled. "Relax, Y/N."

"I'm trying," You sighed.

Kayce reached over and brushed your hair out of your face, his fingers tracing down your cheek. Your eyes fluttered shut, feeling the tension in your shoulders leave with his touch. You blinked open again and sighed.

"I'll be back later, alright?" Kayce's hand rested against your stomach. "Think you can stay here and not hurt yourself more?"

"I'm fine," You rolled your eyes.

Kayce went to step away but then thought again. He leaned down and your eyes followed until he pressed a kiss to your forehead. He left right after that.

You wiggled back some and relaxed into the bed. With your adrenaline lessening, you felt your eyes shut and soon you were out like a light.

You didn't wake up until you heard Kayce's boots on the floor. Soon he appeared in the doorway with a small bag in his right hand and a water in his left. You have maneuvered your way into hugging a pillow with her hurt arm to give it some cushion, the rest of your body sprawled out on the comfy bed.

"Morning," You muttered.

"Afternoon," Kayce smirked but walked in and over to your side of the bed.

He sat down as you turned onto your back to look up at him.

"How's the arm?" Kayce asked, setting the water glass down on the nightstand.

"A dull ache?" You slowly moved it to rest on your chest.

"These'll help," Kayce opened the back and took out your pain pills. "Sit up some."

You leaned up and before you could, Kayce reached behind you and fluffed your pillows back for you to lean on. He then handed you the water glass.

"I got it," You muttered, but Kayce was opening your pill bottle and taking out two small pink pills for you to take.

"They say two every six hours for the first three days and then one every six hours for the remaining," Kayce read the side of the bottle. "You gotta take 'em all though."

"I can read, Kayce," You heard yourself say.

You knew you were being a jerk right now. You could clearly see all Kayce was doing was helping you out, but for some reason you were fighting him on it.

"Take these," Kayce handed you the pills, but you could see a frown on his lips. "Do you want to take a bath to help sooth your other bruises from the fall?"

He stood up while you downed your pills and went to walk into the bathroom.

"Kayce, stop," You sighed.

He looked back over at you.

"I don't need you to do anything for me," You winced as you sat up more. "I can do it myself, I'm not fragile."

"I ain't doing this cause I think you can't, Y/N," Kayce snapped back.

Your eyes widened at his tone. You had never heard Kayce speak like that to you before.

"I want to do this," Kayce sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "I want to help you."

You sat on the bed and stared at him for a minute, it all clicking with you now.

"I'm sorry," You muttered, glancing at your hand. "I'm just not used to someone taking care of me."

Kayce relaxed his shoulders and walked back over to sit next to you on the bed. You leaned into him, your head sitting on his shoulder while he wrapped an arm around you.

"Get used to it," Kayce said before kissing your temple. "Now do you want a bath or not?"

"Will you take one with me?" You asked him.

"Those pills working?" Kayce chuckled.

"Ain't the pills," You giggled.
