Request - I'd love to request a story where Kayce is dating Y/N and they have been living together for a couple of months. It's his birthday and Y/N organized a little family dinner with Tate and everyone and throughout it, she keeps catching Kayce kind of staring at her. So when everyone leaves and they're back at the cabin she asks if he liked his birthday and got everything he wanted. So for the first time in their relationship he brings up marriage and says something like no, I didn't. I want to make you a Dutton I want to be your husband etc.

It's not that you were nervous. You just wanted everyone to have a nice time and there to be no drama between any of Kayce's family members. The Duttons were a difficult bunch to have around because there were very few times you knew of when everyone got along at the same time.

But this was Kayce's birthday, and while Tate was a very close second, right now he was your favorite person on this planet. The two of you have been dating for a couple of months now and for his birthday, all you wanted to do was cook his favorite meal and have his family all around the table.

It took some coaxing, but you were able to get Beth to agree...who then was able to bring Rip to the table. She also brought Carter, but you weren't about to question that relationship. After promising he'd sit as far away from Beth as he could, Jamie said he'd also be there. John would of course be there at the head of the table because it was his dining room table. You had even made the uncomfortable call to Monica to ask if you could get Tate for the evening. She agreed, but that didn't mean pick-up wasn't incredibly awkward as it was your first time actually meeting Monica.

So when you sat down between Kayce and Tate a few minutes ago, the breath you had been holding was slowly going out. The conversation was able to stay on memories of horrible birthday presents or incidents from all the adults in the room.

You had laughed when John told you of the time his father accidentally bought his mother a hog instead of pork meat for her birthday dinner. It had taken then an hour to catch the hog in the home. You took a sip of your water and when you looked to your right you saw Kayce watching you with a funny look on his face.

You looked across the table when Beth started saying how she thought she was gonna get a car for her sixteenth birthday but her father has instead gifted her the first stock option in the ranch.

"Trained you from the start," John held up his glass of wine to a large eye roll from Beth and laughter from everyone else.

You looked at Kayce again and saw him watching you carefully now. Jamie was saying something but you were only half listening.

The meal went off without a hitch. John had even said he'd watch Tate this evening. So you and Kayce made your way back down to his cabin, enjoying the cool air as you held his arm while you walked. Once back inside, you went over and made KAyce a whiskey while he sat down on the couch.

"Well," You smiled, walking over to him and handing him his glass. "How was your birthday? Get everything you wanted?"

"Uh," Kayce looked down at his glass while you sat next to him.

"What happened?" You were nervous.

"Nothing," Kayce said. "Tonight was perfect, Y/N."

"But...?" You pressed, knowing Kayce better than anyone.

"I didn't get everything I want," Kayce sighed.

"What...what didn't you get?"

Your mind was racing through the conversation you had with Kayce a week ago about his birthday. He had decided on a small, family dinner, with a chocolate cake for dessert. That's what had been given to him tonight...so what were you missing?

"You wouldn't have known about this want," Kayce gave you a small smile.

"Oh?" You tilted your head. "Well, what is it? Maybe I can still do something about it?"

"Well, you're part of it," Kayce took a sip of his drink.

Your eyes narrowed.

"Alright, I'm slightly confused and I only had two glasses of wine," You said.

"I want you, baby," Kayce said softly.

This wasn't his usual 'I want you' that he would say when he meant in his bed, or any way to meet a desire. This was a deeper request from you. You took a shaky breath, thinking you knew where this was going, but still weren't one hundred percent sure.

"You want me?" You asked.

"Yeah..." Kayce looked at you.

"In what way?" You watched as Kayce sat his drink down and turn to face you.

"I want you in every way," Kayce said, lacing your fingers on one hand through his. "I want you every morning when I wake up to be next to me...I want you every night when I fall asleep...I want to share this cabin with you more than just on weekends...I want to share my time with Tate with you."

That was a big acknowledgment from him. Kayce's time with Tate was precious and something you had tried to remind yourself was between the two of them first. If you were to be involved you wanted both sides to agree to it.

"I know we haven't been together for long," Kayce took a breath. "But every time I look at you I see the rest of my life."

"Kayce..." You felt like a weight had been lifted off the room around you. "We've only lived together for a few weeks now."

"I'm not saying now, I can see your eyes," Kayce smiled. "But when you asked me if I got everything I want I couldn't lie to you anymore."

"You wanna marry me?" You asked softly.

"I do," Kayce nodded.

"You want me to be a...Dutton?" You tried again.

"Yes, baby... I do," Kayce smirked.

"You want me to be your wife?" You tilted your head.

"I wanna be your husband," Kayce nodded. "Only if you'll let me."

You glanced down at your hands together.

"It is fast," You started but saw the instant regret seep into Kayce's eyes. "But...I think that's something I want too."

"You do?" Kayce asked.

"I do," you smiled, leaning closer to him.

"You wanna be a Dutton?" Kayce leaned in closer to you as well.

Your lips barely brushed against each other.

"Yes," You breathed out.

"You wanna be my wife?" Kayce smiled.

"I do," You whispered before kissing him.
