Request - Where the reader is pregnant and very tired, so she stops working for the day and goes to bed. Kayce finds her in their bed and cuddles with her and puts on her favorite movies and stuff.
You were exhausted.
You had almost fallen asleep on your house earlier, which almost resulted in you falling off, which then resulted in Rip yelling at you and making you leave the barn to go back to the main house. You were a little over four months pregnant and had just gotten through your morning sickness from your first trimester. But the lingering effects were still impacting you.
Your body was changing and while everyone told you how beautiful it was, you were exhausted. You had bags under your eyes from lack of sleep at nights, your shoulder blades always seemed to be sore even if you did nothing. Looking in the mirror you felt like your hair was dry, your skin was raw from the cold winds, and your eyes didn't seem to be as bright as they usually were.
You wanted this baby...but this whole transformation part was starting to get on your nerves and make you doubt you'd bounce back after you had your baby.
Making your way down the long hallway to the bedroom, you kicked your boots off at the door and pulled your button down off. Your jeans could barely fit you now, another bullet point to add to your list of things you knew would happen, but it still didn't make you feel great about it.
After tugging them off, you crawled into bed in your underwear and plain t-shirt. You didn't care if you smelled like horses and dirt, you didn't care about much else except your head hitting the pillow.
Last night you had only gotten about three hours of sleep off and on. Not wanting to wake up Kayce, you didn't move much, just laid there staring at the ceiling. Kayce worried about you twenty-four-seven; you didn't want to add to his worries.
Your eyes closed and you felt yourself slip into a light sleep.
A little while later, you weren't sure how long, you felt the bed dip next to you. Turning your head to look at who was with you, you were honestly surprised to see Kayce laying down next to you.
You had made Rip promise to not call Kayce when you left this morning. So, either he lied to you, or you should have made all the wranglers promise...a rookie mistake in your eyes.
"Hey," Kayce smiled at you, his head sharing your pillow.
"What're you doing home?" You asked with a yawn.
"Checking on my wife," Kayce said, reaching out to brush some hair back from your forehead.
"M'fine," Your eyes shut as Kayce's touch.
"Thought you said your doctor said you'd be better in your second trimester?" Kayce sighed.
"I am," You opened your eyes. "I'm not sick anymore...but I'm also growing so I'm just tired. That's all baby, I'm just tired."
"What can I do to help you?" Kayce's hand moved down to your back and rubbed circles over your t-shirt.
"That's a nice start," You rolled on your side facing away from him so he could reach all your back.
For a few minutes, Kayce rubbed circles on your lower back. He moved up to in between your shoulders and you let out an audible whimper. His thumbs dug into your knots as you sighed with feeling them untangle under your skin.
You curled your legs up, arching your back as you let another content sigh escape your lips. But then you felt something against your left thigh. It was small, but noticeable enough for you to open our eyes.
"Wait," You said, reaching back with one hand for Kayce to stop rubbing.
"What's wrong?" Kayce asked, his voice in a slight panic.
You rolled onto your back, your side touching Kayce now with how close you both were. Your hands were on your stomach.
"Y/N?" Kayce whispered.
"Shh," You said, your fingers pressing into your skin as you waited.
There it was again.
It was softy, but the movement was undeniable. There was a small kick on the right side of your lower belly. Had you not been still, you wouldn't have been able to feel it. Your eyes looked to Kayce who was still worried about whatever was going on with you.
"Give me your hand," You reached over and grabbed his, bringing his hand to rest against your skin in the spot your hand just was.
"What're you doing?" Kayce asked.
"Just...wait a second," You breathed deeply, pressing Kayce's palm over the spot, and waiting.
When you felt it, your eyes danced to Kayce whose caramel ones widened. There was another little push against your side, and you let a puff of air out, your smile increasing.
"Is that?" Kayce asked.
"Our baby," You felt a wave of emotions flow over you as soon as you said the word, baby.
Kayce gently leaned down, moving so he could rest his head against your stomach as he pulled your t-shirt up more. His large hand spread out more so he could cover more area of your skin. Your hand left his and rested on the back of his head.
There was another little push and the two of you smiled at one another.
"Hey little one," Kayce whispered, pressing his lips against your skin and you felt like your heart was going to burst right out of your chest.
Kayce continued to gently rub over your stomach even though your baby seemed to be done for now with their movements. You watched Kayce take this moment and connect with his child. You had felt for the last few months it really had been only you in this game...Kayce taking care of you, you taking care of the baby.
But now he seemed to be right there with you, equally.
"That's amazing," Kayce said, looking back up at you.
You nodded your head, your eyes getting tired again. Kayce leaned up and over you, pressing a kiss to your forehead before getting off the bed. He walked over to the television, and you soon saw a movie pop up on the screen.
Kayce turned the lights off and came back over to your bed, kicking his boots off and untucking his shirt before laying back down with you. You crawled over, your head resting on his chest. Kayce wrapped his arm around your shoulders, leaning his head over yours.
"You don't need to go back to the office?" You asked.
"M'good here," Kayce sighed, his hand rubbing your arm.
"I'm gonna fall asleep on you," You giggled.
"That's okay, baby," Kayce chuckled.
You let your eyes close as the movie drowned out any other sound and Kayce's warmth lulled you to sleep.
