Request - Could you do one where Monica is jealous that Kayce moved on and tries flirting with him in front of the reader, but Kayce chooses the reader instead?

This was your second cattle branding at the Dutton Ranch. There were tons of people, maybe even more people than cattle as you walked around with Tate. The two of you sharing some type of ice cream flurry, John had allowed vendors on to showcase small businesses in town.

"I can't believe you got strawberry," Tate made an ick face as he scooped his spoon around your mound of ice cream in the bowl.

"Don't hate on strawberry," You giggled. "We can't all be plain vanilla."

"Dad's favorite is strawberry too," Tate looked up at you and smiled.

"Your Dad has excellent taste," You fluffed up Tate's hair.

Speaking of your boyfriend of two years, you spotted Kayce over near the fences of where the branding was taking place. The only problem was Monica was standing next to him. While you were okay with Monica, there was still something about her you didn't one hundred percent trust. She always used Tate to have an edge up on Kayce. She also made it very well known she didn't like this ranch, so why was she here?

"Mom!" Tate called as they walked closer.

You caught Kayce's eye as you tossed the empty bowl into a trash can as you passed it. You tried to convey your annoyance with just a look, but you had never been very good at that. Plus, Kayce liked when you would talk to him about your issues. But how were you supposed to talk when the issue was right in front of you?

"They did have ice cream," Tate smiled as he climbed up on the fence between his parents.

"Told you," Kayce laughed as he glanced at Monica.

"Sometimes I can be wrong," Monica smiled at Kayce, and you felt a stab of jealousy.

That was the other thing about Monica. She made you so jealous all the time for no reason. You and Kayce were together, were staying together...but here she was smiling at him and making you question if Kayce had ever questioned.

"I didn't say it," Kayce's eyes got big as he looked at the ground.

His expression made Monica laugh and reach out to push Kayce's shoulder back. You felt like had Monica looked at you in that moment your eyes would have daggers coming through them. Kayce stood up from where he was leaning against the fence, making him now just out of reach of Monica.

Music started up in the distance, making everyone around you turn and look at the band who had started playing over near the barn. John really had gone all out for this thing. You looked back at Kayce but saw Monica had his attention.

"Wanna dance?" Monica asked him and you couldn't help your mouth falling open.

"Uh," Kayce glanced at you and that was all you needed to shake your head and walk away.

If he couldn't pick up how his only answer should have been no, then he could go ahead and dance with her. You heard Tate call your name, but you didn't turn around as you wiggled your way through the crowd. You saw an empty bench off near where folks were eating and started that way.

You almost got to it when an arm wrapped around your waist and pulled you back. You knew it was Kayce before your back touched his chest. Turning your head to the left slightly you looked at Kayce who was smirking at you.

"Yes?" You asked.

"What're you doing?" Kayce's face was relaxed, almost like he was laughing on the inside at you.

"I'm going to sit down," You motioned to the bench.

"Why?" Kayce turned you around to face him.

"So, you can dance with your ex-wife apparently," You huffed, giving up on not being petty in this moment.

"Y/N..." Kayce tilted his head to the side with a smile.

"You didn't tell her no," You pouted.

"Had you stuck around longer than a half second you'd have heard me tell her no," Kayce rolled his eyes.

"Sure," You tried to push out of his arms, but he wasn't having it. "Little Miss Giggle Pants over there was all about you."

"Baby..." Kayce laughed. "What's all this about?"

"Nothing," You crossed your arms as Kayce pulled you closer.

"Tell me," Kayce smiled.

"I get jealous, okay?" You admitted.

"Jealous?" Kayce raised an eyebrow. "Why are you ever jealous of her?"

"Because there's history there," You shrugged. "Because she...had you first?"

"That's ridiculous," Kayce rolled his eyes.

"It's not!" You growled. "She's flirting with you right in front of me."

"She wasn't flirting," Kayce said.

"And she's asking you to dance," You pointed out.

"But had you,"

"Who knows what she would have asked next?" You ignored him.

"Will you just," Kayce tried.

"You've got history with her, I get it," You sighed. "And a pretty cute son too, but I'm just always a little nervous that if she giggles one more time at you, you're gonna start second guessing the girl you're with now."

"And yet, who am I trying to desperately get her to talk this through with me, so she'll dance with me?" Kayce's eyes were bright looking at you.

"I am talking this through with," You stopped. "Dance with you?"

"So, you do listen?" Kayce laughed as he pulled you back to the where people were dancing around.

Kayce grabbed your hand in one of his while his arm wrapped round your back, resting where his fingers dipped under your belt. Your hand not in Kayce's held onto his shoulder as the smoother paced music led y'all to sway.

"I don't wanna dance with Monica," Kayce whispered to you. "I don't wanna dance with any but you."

"Even if I don't act all Miss Giggle Pants?" You asked though your cheeks were warm from his statement.

"I don't really care what pants you are," Kayce chuckled. "As long as I get to take them off you."

You leaned your heard up and giggled at him.

"I love you," Kayce leaned down and kissed your lips in the middle of everyone dancing and you suddenly didn't care who all was around you.
