It is the night of Caroline's high school graduation. Klaus has told her he is leaving Mystic Falls for New Orleans, and will likely never return. He has come to say goodbye.
"Take me with you," she blurts out.
Klaus looks confused. "What?"
"I want to go with you to New Orleans, Klaus."
Now he looks slightly suspicious. "And why would you want to do that?"
"Because I do have feelings for you, Klaus. And I've gotten so used to you being here that I don't want you to go."
"What of your friends?"
"They'll still be my friends. Please say you'll take me with you, Klaus."
Caroline steps forward and kisses Klaus hard on the lips. He is clearly taken by surprise, but soon begins to kiss her back. It is the kiss he has been longing for.
When they finally break apart, Klaus smiles and says, "Let us go then, shall we?"
