Defended By An Upperclassman (Part 4)

One Shot #3 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

Time Skip... A few months later...

Moana and I have spent nearly every single day together, both in school and outside of school. She's become my best friend, but from the first day of school, I've developed feelings for her. Now it's gotten to the point where if I don't make her mine soon, my heart will burst. I need to make her mine. She's too wonderful of a girl to let get away. The last bell of the day rings, indicating the end of the school day. My last class is gym so I have to run in order to get to Moana's locker and catch her before she leaves the building. I manage to get there with seconds to spear as she's closing her locker now.

I lean against her locker to catch my breath and she eyes me suspiciously. "Maui, did you run all the way here?" I nod and she gives me a luck of concern. "I would have waited for Maui. You didn't have to do that." I stifle a laugh. "Well I wanted to make sure I would catch you in time because there's something important that I need to tell and ask you." She flashes at a lovely smile at me. "You can tell and ask me anything Maui." I take a deep breath. Here it goes. It's now or over. You can do this Maui. "Moana, these past few months have been the best of my life. I know you're only a freshman and I'm a junior so I can understand if what I'm about to say creeps you out, but I have this massive crush on you. I have since the first day of school. I'm just drawn to you. Everything about you is great. You're also a really positive influence on me and have done wonders for me when it comes to my grades."

Moana stares at me in awe of all things. "Sorry all of my rambling. I tend to do that a lot. Anyways, the point is I really like and was wondering if you'd like to be my girlfriend." She jumps into my arms excitedly, nearly knocking me over. "Yes Maui! I'd love to be your girlfriend!" I put my arms around her and pull her in for a hug. "I'm so happy to hear that Moana. To be honest with you, I would have heartbroken if you had said no." She puts her face into the crook of neck. "I've liked you since day one too Maui. You're the first person who's made me feel like I'm worth something and that I'm not alone in this crazy school. You just get me." I kiss her on the cheek. "I feel the exact same way Moana. You have me though and together, we'll navigate the rest of high school, then college, and then the real world. Does that sound good?" She smiles up at me. "I wouldn't want it any other way." I smile back. "Neither would I."
