Going Green (Part 5)
One Shot #33 (Cont.)
Maui's POV
Four days later... the end of the week...
I notice Moana fumblingly adorably with some of the test tubes, though thankfully not any of the radioactive ones. "Need a hand there Moana?" She brushes some hair out of her face and smiles up at me. "I'm good Maui. Thank you though." I raise an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" "Positive. Anyways what's up? You look like have something you want to tell me." I laugh nervously. "Aren't you a little mind reader? I do actually. I made a decision." Moana's face becomes rather excited. "Which is?" I give her a small smile. "I will go to S.H.I.E.L.D and see if they will cure me. Though, if they to recruit as me as an Avenger, I'm walking right out of there. Is that fair?" Moana frowns slightly but tries to hide it. "That's fair Maui. I don't want you to be exploited for destructive powers you never asked for."
I nod and smile, very pleased with her answer. "Will you go with me? I'm a little scared of going on my own, you know in case I get angry and the big guy comes out to play." "I'd love to go with you Maui. My only question to you is when do you want to go?" I bite my lip, a habit of mine when I'm deeply contemplating a decision. "How about Monday? I'll let you have the day off of work with full pay." She nods. "Monday it is."
I notice a piece of paper and a pen lying around and decide to do what I haven't had the guts to do sooner, which is write down my phone number and give it to Moana. "You're letting me have your number? Why?" "Well I've had a lot of lab assistants over the years, but you're the only one who not only gets the job done, but also isn't afraid of me. Even though I hate facing the truth, I respect and admire that you tell me like it is. You don't sugarcoat anything. So few people are like that anymore. Don't ever change." Moana tears up and my heart breaks. "Please don't cry Moana. I'm sorry if I said something wrong." She ends up laughing at my words. "You didn't say anything wrong Maui. I've just never been told that by anyone before. It feels nice to be admired by someone. Most people usually just crap all over me."
I can feel the anger towards all of the people who have ever put this wonderful girl done. Moana gasps. "Your eyes... they're green Maui." I can see that she's becoming nervous so I quickly shift them back to their normal color, all of the anger quickly leaving my system. I sigh. "I really need to get myself under control. If worst comes to worse Moana and you have to report me to the cops, a SWAT team, or whoever, do it. I can't bear the thought of me hurting you." Moana comes closer to me and wraps my arm around her. "I won't do that because I know you're not a monster and that creature isn't you." I lean down and look straight into her gorgeous, chocolate brown eyes. I know that's a weird comparison, but it's the first thing that came to mind. "When this whole ordeal is over, hopefully by next week, I want to take out on a date. How do you feel about that?" Moana kisses me on the cheek, causing me blush and smile like a little kid. "I'd love that."
