The Devil With A Shotgun (Part 7)

One Shot #31 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

As Maui and I talked today, I got see the more vulnerable side of him. It was a little strange at first, but it was pretty nice. I can see now that Maui committed his acts out of his personal pain. He didn't take pleasure in doing what he did. I believe he should face the consequences for his actions, but I don't think going back to jail is the answer. He's spent the last three years in jail according to the internet. No I'm not a stalker, it's just he's on the website of Seattle's most wanted. He's currently number twenty. Thankfully he isn't number one, but that's still pretty high. Seattle's a big city. The entire metropolitan area has nearly four million people.

I really want to see him again. I told him I'd text him tonight. I only just got back from class. I'll text him in a couple hours after I get some homework and studying done. Since midterms are coming up, my professors decided it would be fun to slam me with as much homework as possible. Ugh... how will I survive this never ending torture? To be honest, I just barely survived last year. In order to keep my scholarships, I have to maintain an average of 75 or higher. When I did the math at the end of freshman year, I had an 80 average. That's not bad. I mean it could be better, but it definitely could be worse.

Two hours later...

I manage to finish studying for two quizzes next week, type up the last two paragraphs of an essay due tomorrow, and practice some basic choreography for a dance routine I'm trying to master for an upcoming competition. Now I'm going to take a break and text Maui. I grab my phone off my charger and start texting him. The conversation goes like this:

Me: Hey Maui!

Maui: Hey Moana. Today was really nice! I hope we can hang out again soon.

Me: Are you free Sunday? It's my only completely down day of the week.

Maui: Sunday sounds great. What'd you have in mind?

Me: I picked lunch today so I'll leave it to you to pick this time.

Maui: How about a movie and dinner afterwards?

Me: I'd like that! :)

Maui: Me too! :) I'll let you get back to studying or whatever. Text or call me whenever. Good night Moana!

Me: Good night Maui! :)

I put my phone back on its charger to finish charging. I then go back to doing a little more homework before bed. Though strangely, I feel the heat rushing to my cheeks and a grin on my face at the thought of seeing Maui again. I think I might like him a little bit...crap.
