A Broken Man (Part 2)
One Shot #27 (Cont.)
Moana's POV
I come from a poor and rough household. My dad can't manage to hold a stable job, we have very little money, and my mother left when I was young for another man. I begged her to stay, but she refused. She left on this exact night five years ago today. I remember it so clearly as if it were yesterday. I was twelve at the time. I was working on some history homework when I heard loud commotion coming from downstairs. My curiousity got the best of me so I went downstairs to see what was going on. When I got down there, I saw my parents shouting horrible insults at one another. My father was throwing all sorts of things across the room in rage while my mother stood by the door with tears in her eyes and several boxes in hand. My legs and arms were shaking like crazy. My mother gave me a quick hug, a kiss on the forehead, and left without another word. From that moment on, my father was never same. Frankly, neither was I. Our home no longer felt like home. It became... broken.
After my mother left, that's when we lost a lot of our money. My father had stopped working to spend more time with me about a year before she left. He's now a raging alcoholic who happens to have bipolar disorder. I know found that out when I dragged him to the doctor's last month by force. Since then, he barely speaks me to me other than when he's in a mood and wants to take his problems out on me. He does this emotionally, mentally, and physically. If anyone were to find out, they'd call social services on him and have me placed into DCF. I'm just trying to stick out one more year until I'm eighteen. Well eleven months to be exact, but I'm rounding up to a year anyway. In the meantime, I got myself a decent paying job as a maid for this famous wrestler Maui. I interviewed with his manager for the position last week. He took a liking to me and gave me the job. I'm supposed to be starting my new job in two days time. I'm really nervous. I've heard this Maui guy is not only super famous, but is super intimidating.
I googled his picture on his phone last night. He's huge, both in height and weight. His muscles are unbelievable. He's twenty six, but looks a lot older than that. You know the more I think about it, he's actually really cute. Heat rushes to my face. I have to make sure not to say that to him. He probably has girls fawning over him all the time. Maui doesn't need a maid doing that either. I'm just praying this job will be an okay one. I'm tried of struggling day in and day out. I deserve so much better than the crappy life I have.
Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! I wanted this part to focus more on Moana and her backstory in this particular one shot. :) -Mary
