Mousey And The Bad Boy (Part 7)

One Shot #14 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

 Time Skip... Three Days Later...

Today's Saturday and I'm hanging out with Moana. I texted her last night saying I'd pick her up for one this afternoon. I didn't want to schedule our hangout too early because I know most people like to sleep in on the weekend, including myself. I didn't even get up until 11:30 and it's 12:30 now. I'm about to head out to go pick up Moana. Moana doesn't drive because she's only a freshman and fifteen meanwhile I'm eighteen and have had my license for a year now. I grab my wallet, my phone, my charger, and my keys on the way out the door. I get in my car, turn on the radio, put Moana's address into my GPS, and drive.

20 minutes later...

I arrive at Moana's house five minutes early. Wanting to make a good impression, I get out of the car and knock on the door rather than sit in my car and honk the horn. I stand there for about a minute before the door opens up, revealing a very happy Moana. I look her up and down. She's wearing an orange sundress, gold sandals, some jewelry, a white flower crown, and light makeup. She looks beautiful. I feel my heart begin to race and my arms shake a bit. "Hey Moana. I know I'm a few minutes early. I hope that's okay." "That's totally fine." She shouts goodbye to her parents before making her way to the car with me.

"So Moana, where do you want to go lunch?" "I could for Wendy's. What about you Maui?" I smile. "Wendy's sounds great." Wendy's is only five minutes away so we get there quickly. Moana and I get in line. She pulls out her wallet, but I stop her. "Don't even think about it. Lunch is on me." "Are you sure?" "Absolutely. What would you like?" "A spicy chicken sandwich on the dollar menu, a medium fry, and a small lemonade." I order what she tells me along with a double cheeseburger, a small fry, and a large coke for me. The bill comes to ten dollars and I pay all of it. Moana pouts when I hand the cashier a ten. I think she wanted to at least pay her share. I wanted to treat her because based on her reaction, I don't think she's treated to much, which makes me sad.

Our food is ready nearly instantly. We grab napkins, ketchup, etc and find a booth to sit in. We dig into our food, which is delicious. "So Moana, what's your home life like?" She seems taken aback by my question, but dives into answering. "Well it's just my parents, my pet chicken Heihei, my pig Pua, and I." I raise an eyebrow. "I live on a farm." "Well that makes more sense now. Are your parents nice?" She smiles. "They're a little strict, but they're good parents. I'm lucky to be raised in a loving home. Not everyone has that." I nod and begin to frown, causing Moana to panic. "Oh Maui, did I say something wrong? If so, I'm sorry." I put my hand on her arm to calm her down. "You didn't say anything wrong Moana. It's just my depression trying to  get the best of me."

Moana then places hand on my arm, giving me goosebumps. "You know I'm here for you Maui. If you want to talk, I'll listen." I give a sad smile. "I'd like that. I've never really had anyone to talk to. When I was friends with Kyle and Juan, I'd put on a fake smile and pretend to be happy all the time. I bottled up my emotions and then I'd explode when they weren't around. My home life sucks. My mom died when I was nine due to bone cancer and my dad is an abusive alcoholic. He has been since my mom's death. I think her death pushed him over the edge. After this year, I'd like to try and get my own place. I can't last there much longer. My dad's far more of a monster than I am. I don't want to get to that point because I did, there'd be no coming back for me."

I can see Moana's eyes becoming glassy. "Aw Maui, I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have to live like that day in and day out. That breaks my heart." I grab her hands gently and squeeze them across the table. "There's one good thing in my life, well person actually. She makes me really happy. I think I'm even starting to develop feelings for her." Moana's face... twitches a bit and she looks down at the ground. "Whoever she is, she's a lucky girl. I envy her." I stifle a nervous laugh that comes out like I'm choking on a hairball. "Do you want to know who she is?" She leans forward a bit. "I would actually." I look down at the ground. "I'll tell you at the park. I promise." She sighs and nods.

We finish our food and head to the park, which is close to my house. It's a tranquil park. It has a nice playground, pond, beach area, and picnic areas. I park the car in the shade under a big tree. Moana sees the swings and runs off to them. I laugh at her eagerness and run off after her, plopping down on a swing next to her. A few little kids stare at us, but we ignore them. "Maui, I challenge you to a swing jumping contest." I grin. "Challenge accepted. Though I have to warn you, I'm a damn good swing jumper." She grins. "We'll see." Her and I pump on the swings until we're high enough to jump off. I jump off first and land about three feet away from the swings, hitting the dirt with a thud. I groan from the impact while Moana giggles. "I'm waiting for you missy." She smiles and jumps off, flying about ten feet in the air...landing right on top of me. My heart begins to skip a beat.

Moana looks up at me, red as a tomato, while clutching my chest. Neither one of us get up from our position on the ground. I blush and cup Moana's face gently. "You know that girl I was talking about you." She nods. "It's you Moana." She smiles. "I was hoping it was me because I really like you Maui." I lean my forehead against hers. "I really like you too Moana." She runs her fingers through my hair.  "You may try to be a bad boy Maui, but there is a lot of good in you." I smile at her sincerely. "Oh I'm still bad Moana, but I'm good for you." She giggles. "Just me?" I pull her towards me until we're just an inch a part. "Just you" I say and begin kissing her. I was going to wait, but I can't. Thankfully, Moana seems like she can't either because she kisses me back with an equal amount of passion and feeling.

When we pull apart, we both sit there like goofy five year olds, neither one of us believing that what just happened. Afterwhile, I decide to break the silence with the obvious question on both of our minds. "So Moana, are we officially a couple?" She jumps into my arms and hugs me tight. I smile. "I'm going to take that as a yes." She nods eagerly. I wrap my arms around her and simply marvel at my beautiful girl. I'm so glad that she's mine.
