The History Teacher And His Student (Part 3)

One Shot #23 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

The next day...

First period is coming to an end, which makes me quite sad. I mean today's going a lot better than yesterday, but Moana's going to be heading on to her next class of the day and I won't get to see her again today... unless I ask her to stay after school. She could help me organize the lesson plan for the next two weeks. She's a really good organizer from the way I've seen her organize her binders, books, etc. That way I can get to know her more, but in a way that doesn't seem creepy. For example, asking her to go for a coffee or tea might be pushing me luck.

Five minutes later...

The bell rings and everyone makes their way out of the class, except for Moana and her friend Kayla. I smile at the sight of the two of them talking. I'm glad she made a friend. Kayla seems like a nice girl too so I can tell they're going to get along well. "Moana, can I talk to you for a minute?" She looks at Kayla. "I'll see you in Art third period. Kayla nods and gives us a small smile before leaving the room. When I hear the door close, I shift my complete attention onto Moana.

Moana looks at me in panic. "Did I do something Maui? If so, I'm really sorry. I'll make up for it. Whatever you ask, I'll do." I put my hands up in defense. "Woah Moana, take it easy. You're not in trouble. I just wanted to ask you something really quick. I know it's going to make you late so I'll sign a late pass for you." I watch her chest fall in relaxation and her posture go back to normal. "What is it Maui?" "I was wondering if you could help me out with organizing the lesson plan for the next two weeks. I'll give you ten bonus points on the first test if you do. It's just I'm so new to teaching and I need a little help getting myself together. I don't mean to be weird, but I've noticed how organized you are. It's up to you though. I won't hold it against you if you're too busy. I can imagine you're probably going to start getting homework today."

She gives me a warm smile. "I'm sure I won't get too much, but I'd love to help you afterschool Maui. Should I come straight here at the end of the day?" "Yes that'd be good." The bell rings so I grab my stack of passes and sign one for Moana so she doesn't get yelled at by her next teacher. "What room are you going to Moana?" She looks at her schedule. "Room 132." "That's not too far. Only down the hall." She nods. "I'll see you later Maui." "See you later Moana." Just like yesterday, I watch her leave my classroom, except this time, I eye every part of her body. God Maui, get your head out of the gutter.

Moana's POV

The end of the school day...

I run to my locker real quick to grab the books and supplies that I need for my two homework assignments tonight, which are an open response for English and a worksheet for Algebra 1. I then make my way to Maui's class. When I enter, I see him sitting with a hand on his head, but a look of deep concentration plastered on his face. I sit down quietly at a desk near his and wait for him to finish whatever he's working on, because I'm a considerate person unlike most. When he's done, he looks up at me with a smile on his face. Gosh he's cute. Moana, control yourself. You're a fifteen year old freshman and he's your teacher.

"Moana, I'm so glad you came." I smile. "Me too. Anyways, let's get cracking on that lesson plan. I have some homework that I need to get done at a decent time tonight." He nods and presents the plan to me. As he talks, I can hear the excitement in his voice. He truly does love history just as much as I do, if not more so because he chose to be a history teacher. "What do you think Moana?" "I think it sounds good overall in words, but could be better organized on paper." I motion to his laptop. "May I?" He hands me his laptop and I make a few quick corrections. When I'm done, I hand the laptop back over to Maui for him to read them. As he reads them, his face lights up. "I'm impressed Moana. You make far better lesson plans than I do. Maybe you should be the teacher." I laugh. "I don't like people enough to be a teacher, but if you need help from time to time, I'd be more than willing to assist. Anyways, I have to get going now, but have a good night Maui."

I get up from my desk and as I do, Maui gently grabs a hold of my arm. "Wait, there's something I need to give you before you go." I watch him scribble something on a piece of paper before handing it to me. I glance at it and see his email... and his phone number. "Maui, I can understand you giving students your email, but you wrote your phone number too. Why?" A blush creeps up on his face. "I don't like a lot of my students, but you're one of the few I actually like. Plus, if you ever need any help or have questions, you can get a hold of me easily. I only answer my emails once a day, but I'm glued to my phone all the time." I nod. "Good night Maui." He waves. "Good night Moana."

As I leave his classroom, I feel a smile stretch across my face, one of those cheesy ones that stretches from to ear to ear.

Hope that you guys liked this part of this one shot! I'm super tired, but I wanted to get an update for you guys tonight because I love you guys like crazy! <3  :)  -Mary
