A Weaker Version (Part 3)

One Shot #9 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

   Time Skip... Two Days Later...

Being out on the ocean for long periods of time gives one plenty of time to both think and talk. Reluctantly, I've been talking to Maui and getting to know him more. I have to say I'm surprised. Deep down inside, there is a lot of good in him. I can tell that's sincere about wanting to fix his mistakes. Also, he's really interesting. He's been on thousands of voyages in his life and has down some incredible things such as pulling up islands after they burn to the ground, meeting Zeus, and defeating Tamatoa many times in the realm of Monsters.

"You know Maui, you're not as bad as you make yourself out to be. I think that once we restore the heart, you're going to get that happy ending you desire." He gazes down at me. "You really think so?" I smile. "I do and I'm glad that I have the honor of being able to witness it." He flashes me a toothy smile that makes my heart swell. "I'm glad you're here to. It's nice having some company after being alone an island for a thousand years." My heart begins to break at hearing that. "Maui, why did you put yourself into isolation for so long?" He sighs. "I figured it would be better to hide away from everyone, that way I wouldn't have to worry about hurting anyone. I've hurt a lot of people Moana, both physically and emotionally. Some innocent people died in a darkness spell that Te Ka recently over one of the villages, all because dumb Maui stole the heart."

I put a hand on Maui's shoulder. "You will come out of this dark hole that you dug yourself into and I will be here for you, every step of the way." "Do you really mean that Moana?" I smile sincerely. "I really do. I know that between you and I, we can defeat Te Ka, restore the heart, and achieve success. Though I believe in you, you need to start believing in yourself as well." He nods. "I'll try my best Moana, but thank you for having faith in me. You're the first person who has in a thousand years. It feels nice to have someone in my corner." "It feels even better to see you slowly becoming the strong and amazing demigod I know you are. Anyways, get some rest Maui. You look exhausted." He yawns. "I sure am." He lays down beside where I'm standing. His hands brush across my feet gently. The sudden contact causes a rush of energy to run through me.
