One Shot #4

 Moana's POV

   After Maui and I restored the heart of Te Fiti, Te Fiti rewarded us in a few different ways. She restored the light to Montonui and the surrounding islands, fixed Maui's fish hook, brought back Gramma Tala from the dead, and made my entire family demigods/demigoddesses. It's only been two weeks since Maui and I's historical voyage, but I find myself missing being out on the ocean. I mean don't get me wrong I'm flattered by all of celebration dinners and rituals the village have had in honor of us, but I haven't had any time alone with Maui. I think he feels the same based on the excessive amount of eye rolls and annoyed facial expressions he has made the past few days. There's nothing planned for today yet so Maui and I plan to run off and sail around the islands for the day. In case you didn't know, Maui decided to stick around after we restored the heart. The villagers were hesitant at first, but after hearing about his heroic actions, they quickly changed their attitudes. 

     Maui flashes me a toothy grin. "Ready to sail out on the open ocean?" I grin back. "I'm so ready." We both run down to the dock, untie my boat, and set sail." As we begin to float away, my dad comes running to the shore, shouting at us to come back. I laugh and wave at him. He sighs but waves and shouts "Have fun!" I shout back "Thank you", in which Maui sings "You're Welcome" and I elbow him in the stomach. "Ouch Curly. No need to hate on my musical masterpiece. I think deep down you love it." I roll my eyes. "When pigs fly, maybe I'll change my mind." A sly grin forms on Maui's face. "You know, we can make that happen." He lifts his hook into the air, cries out his famous war cry, and shapeshifts into a pig... with wings. I didn't know he could shapeshift into a combination of things. He oinks a noise of satisfaction. "Fine Maui, you have some musical skills. Happy?" He shifts back to his normal form with a smile. "Very." 

     "Speaking of shapeshifting Maui, could you help teach me how to use my powers sometime soon? I meant to ask on the way back here, but we've both been caught up in a lot so I didn't get the chance to." He puts a hand on my shoulder. "It'd be an honor to teach you Moana. You've grown so much on this voyage physically, emotionally, and mentally. You're also an excellent wayfinder, probably an even better one than I am at this point." He then does something he's only ever done once before, he pulls me in for a hug. "I'm proud of you kiddo." I squeal. "Hey, I'm not a kid! I'm a demigoddess now, therefore I won't age either." He laughs. "True, but you're still a kid compared to me." I groan. Oh Maui, just whatever will I do with you.

Hoped you guys liked this one shot! I figured it'd be interesting to throw in a platonic Moana and Maui oneshot despite being a massive shipper of them. :) -Mary
