The Girl Who Has Everything And The Guy Who Has Very Little (Part 9)
One Shot #28 (Cont.)
Moana's POV
The end of the school day...
I'm at my locker getting my belongings when Maui pops up out of no where and scares me. I clutch my chest jokingly. "You scared me Maui." He laughs. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to know if you had a few minutes to spare." I smile. "I do actually. Now that we finished our scene and it's Friday, I actually can breathe a bit. What's up?" He scratches the back of his neck. "I was wondering if we could talk." I giggle. "We always talk." He rolls his eyes playfully. "Yes I'm aware of that, but it's something a little more serious than usual." "Oh, in that case, I'm sorry for mocking you Maui. Of course we can talk. Let's just leave school first." Maui nods and leads me a bench across the street. There aren't many people around so we can talk more openly than we could in school.
I notice Maui fiddling with his hands nervously and looking at the ground while doing so. "What's going on Maui? Are you okay?" He laughs to himself. "There are so many different way I could answer that question. I have something I need to tell you. The problem is I don't know how to say it. I'm also really scared you're going to freak out when I do tell you." I lean my head on his shoulder. "Maui, you can tell me anything. You know that." He nods and takes a deep breath. "These past couple of weeks with you have been so incredible. I've learned so much about you and we've become really good friends. Though as we spent more time together, my feelings changed from wanting to be just friends to something more. I really like you Moana." I look at him in shock. He said the exact words I've been dying to hear.
I stare at him in silence for a couple of minutes until he makes a coughing sound. "Moana, can you please say something? You're making me really nervous right now." "I like you too Maui, but..." He straightens up. "But what?" I look down at the ground in shame. He's going to hate me for what I'm about to say. I don't blame him. I would too. "But... you and I shouldn't be together. We're too different." His nervous expression shifts into a much darker one. It's actually scaring me. "What do you mean we're too different? If you're saying you think you're better than me and don't want to be with me because it might risk your reputation, that's just cruel. Is that what you're trying to say?" I nod sadly. Maui stands up in front of me and begins yelling. "I'M SO STUPID. HOW COULD I POSSIBLY THINK THAT A GIRL LIKE YOU WOULD EVER BE WITH ME? I THOUGHT YOU WERE BETTER THAN THIS, BUT YOU'RE NOT. YOU'RE JUST A SHALLOW BITCH!" Tears streak his eyes and he storms off, leaving me speechless and heartbroken. I brought this upon myself, but it still hurts.
